BREAKING NEWS: Men are no longer from Mars.. They have moved to Jupiter!

April 18, 2009 3:35pm CST
I don't know if it's just me but have you noticed that men today are not as masculine as men of the past? Nowadays men are getting away with wearing pink shirts, having pedicures and manicures, blushing a little makeup, using moisturizes etc.. doesnt this all sound very feminine to you?? Ok don't get me wrong here.. i'm not saying its wrong for men to do these things.. am saying it's not what i would call 'masucline' What happened to the good old days where men were gladiators, hercules, goliaths, Samsons, Moses, King David etc? You see back then it was never a problem for women to get a guy or vice versa. A man would just walk into a room and his presence alone would get every woman jumping because you could feel his power and strength. Nowadays most blokes look so feminine and we wonder why they are a lot of single people at the moment waiting for Mr right... truth is Mr right is now feminine so it's hard to spot a 100% masculine!! No offense men.. this is purely my observation and i dont mean to be mean, or rude or sexist.. so please dont take offense to this.. I'm mearly just getting stuff out of my head... so let's hear it.. have you guys emigrated to jupiter?? (Jupiter is considered the unisex planet).. Ladies do we all think this is true? let me hear it please... Thank you.

I totally agree because now you cant tell whether there more into you than themselves. I said the same exact thing there used to be a time when men thought wearing pink was for girls only. Blue and pink were always used to tell whether you are having a boy or girl now it makes me wander if you can put pink on a bouncing baby boy and bring him home, will they say he is so cute or your baby girl is beautiful.

spot on!!! I'm always happy when somebody agrees with me here.. I have a guy friend of mine who like wearing pink tight shirts. He's not gay but every time he wears a pink shirt I cant control my laughter.. I just can't take a man wearing a pink shirt very seriously!!...

Jupiter is actually a masculine planet, and resides over the abstract, higher learning, and ideology. It is the planet very closely associated with the priesthood. Jupiter is also the Roman name for Zeus (to give you a tie to one God). It's viewed as the "intellectual" planet in most studies, and depending upon where it falls in your own course will be how it's attributes effect you. Now, I'm not sure why you feel that there is such a thing as "100%" masculine. We're very dual creatures possessing traits that could be viewed either way. Society has molded us to give gender bias, but in most mystical traditions it's not a good or bad thing to have a feminine energy versus a masculine energy, it is just the nature of the energy. Though, yes we could say that one may do evil with it or what have you. I'm not sure, as a female, if I'd want to be with a Gladiator. They weren't all Russell Crowe. Gladiators were conditioned to be cold blood killers, they had to be. Hercules was arrogant. Goliath was just cruel. Samson was arrogant and conceited. Moses a murderer, as well as David. If I had my choice, I'd rather be the wife of a Samurai. At least there was a code of ethics there. I'd even go so far as to say I'd not mind being with a man such as Genghis Khan, for at least there were fair rules for all for the tribes to survive. To me, there is not one feature that I'd say makes one man more "masculine" than another. There is nothing wrong with using skin cream as it helps the skin. And if you study some of the ancient civilizations you'll find that they were full of make-up, moisturizers, etc for women and men. And there were many cultures that wore "bright" colors, and were easily known for their prowess in battle. Namaste-Anora

Well of course most men are the way they are today. If you have not heard the song by Brad Paisley "I'm still a guy", you should try to get it, this song speaks volumes. With men being the way they are though, think about it, if they don't agree with some of the womens rights movement, they are a sexist pig and everybody dogs them for it. If they don't want to watch a chick flick movie, they are insensitive jerks who have no emotion. If they watch action movies, they are barbaric. If they like to look at naked women they are preverts. If they don't have clean nails wind tunnel tested hair-do's and smooth skin, they are slobs. If they like to hunt, they are blood crazed berserkers. This is stuff that I hear women saying about men all the time. The fact that women say stuff like this and threaten to leave their man for being a man it's no wonder that guys are wimps these days. It's real simple, guys are not allowed to be guys anymore. If they try to be they are branded, if they don't they are feminine, so what the heck are we supposed to do? I personally have my views and beliefs, and it offends some lady for me acting masculine, then go date another woman because you are not going to change me.

It is silly that women sometimes complain about the state of their would be men so am with you on this one bro...

I don't think this takes away from a guys masculinity. So what if he wants to wear pink, it's just a colour. How can you base someone's masculinity on a colour? I know if I don't moisturize my skin, it gets dry and uncomfortable and itchy and painful even. Men have to endure the uncomforableness of dry skin to be masculine? I think that sounds sort of stupid.

you're missing the point here.. I did not say that doing all that is wrong or bad.. in fact I appreciate men who take the time to make themselves look good.. I'm talking about how men have changed over the years.. back then men did not put much effort in their looks and women did not care about what a man looked like.. now its a different scenario...

Men are more vain today as before, but that won't make them less a man. They just follow what is in trend today, maybe during those times that you said, it's not a fashion trend to go a parlor, have your nails done, or do what women usually do there. They just learned to take care of their selves more today..

Just because they do some things we girls do doesnt mean they are girly, it just means they want to take care of themselves. Nowadays image counts.

Hi Jellymonty, I think it's fine if they prefer softer (feminine?) colors, and like to be pampered like us (manicure, facial, massage). But at least they are still masculine inside (emotionally, psychological). I've met some guys who really made me cringe - can you imagine this 30 year old guy pouting and stamping his feet? Or this fellow who told me that he's scared to wait at a bus-stop alone, and need me to accompany him?

Those men probably had no problem getting women because they didn't have much say in the matter. I really don't care if a guy is more "feminine" or "masculine", but I don't think I'd ever go out with a macho type because in my experience these types have major security issues and have the egos of the size of a planet, not to mention that they tend to put women down in one way or another. Ultimately, I think that whether a man is masculine enough matters very little in the grand scheme of things. Whether he conforms to traditional gender roles or not, the important thing is that he's happy and comfortable in his own skin.

If a guy likes to dress up and take care of his personal appearance,it's ok with me.what matters most is how he treats ladies. If he says rude things about women, thinks women are stupid, and don't deserve to be loved by men, then those are really surefire signals of a gay..a bitter gay,to be exact.however, if a guy with nail polish opens the door for a woman, allows a girl to go ahead of him in a market/store queue, brings a girl flowers, and treats ladies with respect,he's still straight.

Hahaha, hmm...well, yea, men now aren't as manly as before, but i still think they're quite manly in this modern days. Maybe it's because times have changed and so the people are changing too. Change is inevitable, what else can we do but to embrace it. But the men that i'm around definitely do not go for pedicures, manicures or uses makeup. They're completely men, who even if they wear pink shirts, it would be a loose one and not the tight ones...I still think the men out there are still men..The more we change, ther more we're all the same actually...^_^
