My dad was telling me he heard the Postal service is only going to deliver mail five days a week and not six.
Has any one else heard anything about this? My mom said it was on the news that it is up for discussion that they are thinking about it.
What are your thoughts would you be ok if mail was only delivered five days a week?

Yeah I told my mom i heard the stamps were going up. and she said she didn't hear that I heard someone on my lot say they were going up. in May.
I didn't personally hear about the 5 day a week mail my parents hear it on the news.
I was wondering if any one else has heard any thing of the sort.
I told my mom to get the forever stamps then she dose not have to worry if the price goes up you can use those no matter what.

Wow, you are lucky. In the city, we have not had mail delivered 6 days a week for years. Some areas get deliveries on Saturdays during December...for Christmas.
Where i live, we get no deliveries at all. Those of us that live in town have to go collect our mail from the Post Office.

I know that there has been some discussion about the Post office trying to cut costs by only doing home deliveries 5 days a week, but I didn't think it had been decided on. The last time i talked to my hubby's friend Larry who is a letter carrier in a town nearby, he said there was no sign of them stopping Saturday deliveries for certain.

i have heard this also and i really don't have a problem with it. i think if the post office was open till noon on saturday for the people who can't get there during the week that would be enough. we really don't need the delivery service on saturday..besides look at it this way that would be one day with no bills...

That is true one day we don't have to worry about getting bills in the mail. That would be 2 days a week no bills in the mail. cause actually that is what we get every day in the mail is bills bills bills....

I heard this too but I am not sure that will happen right away. I know it would be a great idea to cut on costs though. I wonder if they will ever really do this? I guess we will have to wait and see what happens huh? Nice discuss and happy mylotting to you as well.

Yeah I just was not sure if any one else heard about I watch the news pretty regularly and did not hear about it.
My dad said they are still trying to decide. The stamp prices are going up May 15th.
My mom didn't know about that when I told her. So I told her about the forever stamps and she didn't know about them that if you have them you can use them no matter if the prices go up or not and you don't need any extra stamps on your mail.

Yea, I've heard this was a rumor as well. Even if the rumor were true, I don't think that it would seriously impact much. Most of the business world operates on a "business day" schedule anyway, and Saturdays don't count as a business day. As long as independent carriers such as UPS or FedEx still ran on the weekends (for expedited deliveries), I think it would be fine. And the Postal Service would probably save tons of money by cutting out Saturday from their schedule.

Yes I also agree they would save tons of money not running on Saturdays. I guess everyone is hurting in the economy and they have to take a day pay cut for it and cut back also if it is not a rumor and it is for real.
True a lot of business don't operate on Saturday nor count as a business day. I also home UPS and FedEx will still run for expected deliveries.
