A 15 year old girl started a Caucasian Club at her school. On the surface this might seem racist of her, but on closer examination is it really? It's not like she started a Jr. KKK club or anything. She was just responding to the fact that there's an African American Club and Latin Club and Asian Club...
It brought to mind a thought I used to have a lot. I used to religiously watch the Miss America pageant, and I became aware of the Miss Black America pageant (which I'm pretty sure still exists). Black girls compete in, and often win, the Miss America pageant - - which is as it should be - - but then they have their own pageant too, which no white girl is allowed to enter? I used to say to my mom about this that there would be such an outrage if anyone were to start a Miss White America pageant.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think there should be a Miss White America pageant, and I don't have a problem with African American clubs in schools. I just don't know that I necessarily have a problem with the existence of a Caucasian club either.
What do you guys think about this?

This same kind of thing used to bug me when I worked at the high school level. Black kids would come to school wearing "Black is Beautiful" tees. Hispanics would wear "Brown is Beautiful". However, none of the white kids wore "White is Beautiful" because they knew they'd get in trouble for being racist. It was such a double standard.
I think that most Blacks and Latinos are much more into racism than white people are. I don't even consider it in most things I do, but I've had people call me racist many times when I innocently did something that they found offensive. For instance, we had a black student who was absolutely the worst-behaved student anyone had ever dealt with. Even though he was classed special needs due to his behavior, he was so notorious that every teacher in the school knew who he was. Yet, his mother was constantly mad at the school because her poor little boy was being picked on and disciplined because of his race. That played NO part in the problem.
I guess she found that out later, though, when her little boy ended up in prison for attempted murder. Or does she consider that racism, too, do you suppose?

That's so true! I teach at a business school and I have a group I'm working with now who all live in public housing. The housing board is paying for them to go to school to try to get into a job and out of public housing. Their take on things is always interesting, but never more so than when one of the girls said that the air conditioning problem (in the whole 6 story building) was a conspiracy against that group because they are black and nobody cares about them! I told her that they must not like white girls either because I was pretty hot too in there. Can you even imagine?

I agree that there is a double standard. I walk on egg shells sometimes to prevent myself from saying something that would otherwise be innocent. Some (NOT all) blacks seem so quick to pull out the race card and call someone else a racist just because they don't get there way, or they aren't catered to. That's bull. Blacks these days seem to have more resources than whites. Scholarships and grants for college come to mind. There are so many of them out there and many are for black people only. Not all white people can afford college, either. Same thing for starting a business. There are black organizations that will help a black person start a business. You don't see any that are targeting just white people... for obvious reasons.
There was a Dateline (or one of those news shows) episode recently about this. For the life of me, I can't remember the title of the book the black man wrote. He stated that it is the blacks' own fault if they don't succeed. They use their race as an excuse to not try. They just say "it's because I'm black."
I say get over yourself. Keep the attitude in check and maybe you might get somewhere.

When people are always ready to pull the race card, you know they are thinking racist thoughts most of the time. Otherwise that would not be their response.
Regarding college, my daughter is going on loans. We were told on more than one instance (quietly of course) that she is just the wrong color to get most of the financial aid. That is pure discrimination against my daughter - you cannot call it anything else. Shall I start a riot?

Reverse discrimination is a huge problem. The government, in their simple way of thinking, thought that the way to make up for historical discrimination, was to make more discrimination and keep it going. That is called affirmative action - something the government still won't let go of.
There should be White History Month, White Entertainment TV, highways named after white people.
And I should be president of National Association for the Advancement of White People.
The correct approach is to drop all discrimination and favoritism due to skin color, and just say people are people. Until we do that, then I guess we'll need lots of discriminating groups.

We don't need a White History Month or WET because whites haven't been a suppressed race for over 200 years. There are many highways where I live that are named after white people and a few named after blacks as well. Yes, it might be history and all water under the bridge, but racial issues cause hurt feelings in all areas and walks of life. When I taught I would celebrate Black History Month. We would open each class with discussing a few different profiles of blacks who were influential throughout history that most kids hadn't heard about. They hadn't heard about them because they're not mentioned in the history books. I had to answer the question dozens of times throughout the month "Why don't we have a White History Month?" Of course, when I celebrated Women's History Month no one asked why we didn't have a Men's History Month. If parents would teach their children from a young age that we all have a place in this world and we all have great worth in God's eyes things would start to change. Acts 10:34 tells us that God is not a respecter of persons so why should we be?

I wondered when someone would do something like that. I feel sorry for her because she is going to get so mnay people calling her the next Hitler or a min KKK member. I feel there should be NO special groups since everyone is suppose to be treated the same. I know it doesn't work like that in the real world, but that's how I feel.

ok i understand were you are coming from with this. but have to look at this in a histroy prospective. way back when, not to long ago Caucasian (not all) but alot use to put down and do other races wrong in every part of the world, when all the races start stand up for themself and start to really realize that they were been done wrong they begin to teach their people tobe proud of who you are and your people, like the "white man". so then came all the clubs. But by now all the caucasian "clubs" had socialize themself with been rude and putting others down and just rigth out racist. so they TAG themself without knowing that it would come back to hurt them. Because in a "black, Asian, Latin or India Club" it is ment or means that they are going to cater to and share there culter with others, it dose not mean that ones outside that culter is not aloud. ALOT of these clubs are that way. there are some that are not, and they are wrong too. i understand just like alot of intelligent people do that this 15 year old young lady had good intention, she want to start club. she dont mean no harm. but the caucasian man did this to his people. because when you see or hear latin club, you think latin music and food, when you black club, you think hip hop, rap, urban wear, you hear asian club, asian techno and cool tricker out cars, but when you hear white club, you may think rock, dance and so on. but the first thing that come to alot of people minde that is not of the caucasian race is that "TAG" they dont want me in there. It sad but true. here is one for you when you hear someone say That "thug" or those "THUGS" do you think a caucsaian male or a black male? see that another "TAG"
why is it that native americans apart the monrity group or races when this is (North America) there home land?

I think that everyone should realize that all colors just serve to beautify the world. It shouldn't be used to separate. This girl's club and all the other clubs in schools that are based on color should be removed and discouraged and parents should teach their kids color blindness as far as human beings are concerned.
