Well I personally would buy me a house. I mean I like to rent and everything, but it is better to have a place of your own when you need it ya know. I like to paint walls and things like that. Not just that when you have your own place to live it's amazing you won't have to worry about getting kicked out lol. What are your opinions. Thanks for your posts.

Well you aslo throw your money away to if you rent. Buying a house you invest in the land and the building so you can get some money out of it. It is a good investment as well as a great place to call home.

I would have to agree totally! I do not believe in renting. You pay all this money and for what, so the landlord can pay off the house you are living in but will never own. My sister just turned 33 and bought her first home. She has been renting since she was 18. The money she has spent in rent over the years would have bought her a home a long time ago.

yes i agree with you, having your personal place is million times better then renting apartments, mostly cuz u know their are no more worries or problems regarding housing, we save lots as we don't pay rents and we can do watever we desire with our house and are not bound by rules and laws[except goverment laws lol]

Eventually, we will buy or build a home. We may even buy a home then save to build a new one later on down the road. I am not in a big hurry to buy because I would like to have the money to pay for it without relying on a loan. It can be done, it will just take hard work and determination by both me and my husband.

I love my townhouse actually. Its large enough for me and the 2 guys I'm living with to live comfortably in. So I wouldn't mind owning my own townhouse compared to a house.
For me when I grow up I don't want to have kids - its just not the same for me. Instead I want 1-2 dogs to raise because they are less hassle, less money, and they love you more than most children do nowadays once they reach teenage-adult hood. Kids can take you for granted, a dog never will.
So saying that as long as I have a 2 bedroom place and a nice fenced in private yard in the back that a dog could run around in then I'm fine. Plus I have small dogs so most of the townhouses have decent ones they can play in and there are always dog parks.

LOL I have 4 kids and 4 Pit Bulls. And to tell you the truth, my kids don't get into as much trouble as my dogs do. As far as the money goes, so far this year I have spent much more on the dogs. They have all had to go to the vet at least one time each, I buy over 50 pounds of food a week for them, and I am always having to replace something that they have destroyed. What kind of dogs do you have? LOL

I have a Jack Russel.
I think the only time we've had to take her to the vet the 4 years I've had her is to get shots and then she eats a decent amount of food but its probably $10-15 a month at most I think for that. Of course there are toys and treats but when you add it all up - its less than you spend on diapers for a month.
I think the only thing she's destroyed besides a few pairs of underwear is my rug because it was the first time I left and it was for 10 days and she went through manic depression because of it. That expensive but how many times is a kid going to bust through a wall, draw with crayons, spill paint somewhere etc.
No matter what - I've seen how much my sister has put in time, effort, and money for her newborn and its nothing compared to what I have to do with my dog.

It's my dream to have my own house. Not only you will not have to worry about getting kicked out it's a kind of investment when you get old.You will never worry where to stay and you can have all the fun in dressing up your house. Also if a part should be replaced you're the person in-charge and you can decide the price, color and design.

totally agree. i prefer to buy instead of rent. no sense in making the landlords richer, instead divert that money to finance a housing loan which some people term as "rent to own"...

Actually, if I could afford to buy a house, I would. I don't think I'd rent one, only because I won't get anything, when I chose to move somewhere else. It may be just me, but it's just the way that I would do it. It's what makes sense to me anyway. When I buy a house, I know that, when it'll be time for me to move on, I'll get something in return for my investment.

I agree with you theres nothing like owning your own home, becuse your free to do what you want to it, and there are no shared walls with neighbors, and if you get a good deal during parches you will have life long security and equity, theres nothing like it, and you dont have that kind of security when ranting.

Hi,
I would like to buy a house rather than renting a place. A house that is purchased will be an asset to me rather than a liability(if renting a place). I can lease out the house to earn rental income.

I would never buy I house! I would rather rent a house if I could or stay in a rented apartment which I live in! Owning a house would be to much worry and to much work! I can't fix anything! I can't rely on people to help me fix things! Houses are also to expense for me! Rent is alot cheaper and my landlord fixes the stuff that needs fixing! A house never!

I would much rather own my home than rent it. The last house I rented made me realize just how much money I was throwing away. I was paying $750 a month for nothing but rent. I still had to pay electricity, water, sewer, trash, phone, gas, cable, etc. I was paying more in rent than I would for a mortgage. So, I moved back in with my parents and started saving all of that money for a down payment on a home. (Well, I was until I lost my job.) I have had nothing but trouble out of landlords. Two of them agreed (when my application was accepted) to let me have my dogs and keep them inside. Then, when they found out that my dogs protect my house and won't let anyone in when I'm not there, they changed their minds. Since I refused to get rid of the dogs, I moved...twice. I mean, why would these people need to come into my home when I'm not there? They weren't doing any work to these places. (This happened two different times at two different homes.) The only reason they wanted in was so that they could "check up" on me. They had no business poking around my things. I find that to be creepy. And then I had one landlord agree to rent his house to me and my fiancee at a reduced rate because it needed some work done to it. The agreement was that he was going to buy the supplies, and we were going to handle the construction. (The floors needed replaced, the heating system needed fixed, the water pipes were leaking, etc.) Well, a couple of months down the road, he started asking me when we were going to begin working. I, in turn, asked him when he was going to go buy the supplies. I got no answer. But we went through this conversation for about 5 months. Then, he started telling people that we were getting over on him. He apparantly changed his mind and thought that since he was renting to us at a reduced rate, that we should be the ones not only to do the work, but to buy everything. NOT!! We moved. The next landlord we had was worse. He would frequently get drunk and come over in the middle of the night wanting to sleep in the spare bedroom. He never got past the front door. I am not going to have that kind of thing around my kids. But he would always get angry because we wouldn't let him spend the night. Why should we? We were paying HIM rent. If he wanted to live there so badly, then he shouldn't have rented the place to us. We moved. And then there was the landlord that would let himself in whenever he wanted. I would frequently come downstairs in the morning after my husband went to work and find this man sitting at my kitchen table enjoying a cup of coffee. (My husband didn't let this man in. He helped himself.) He would do that to all of the young women that rented from him. We moved. Anyway, these are just a few of the things that I have been through with landlords. I will never rent again. Even if I have to live with my parents for the rest of my life. At least they mind their own business. And I don't have to pay them any money. LOL.

Yep, me too! I would love to have my own house instead of renting in an apartment. I will not feel like I'm throwing money away. Plus, a house is something I can personalize to my own taste and style. I can do whatever I want in my own home and I know that I would be very content. It would give me some control in my environment as well.

Lucky12,
I agree with you that it is really important that we should have a roof over our head when we are independent and trying to establish ourselves. However, we should never stretch our finances to the extent where our well being will be affected. I am not discouraging house ownership but we should always be mindful that the prices are not getting cheaper nowadays. So, we should be practical and prudence with our finances as we can never anticipate when a rainy day will come.
Cheers.

I don't so much about a house though. I'd rather have a trailer or doublewide as I feel that'd be sufficient space. Plus generally the designs of the house are nice and cozy but with sufficient room. As for the ability to express yourself through painting and etc without having to paint it back before moving out, I like that. lol.

That's the beauty of having or owning a house. You get to decorate and paint the walls. Plus, you can make necessary modifications if needed. Although I personally want to rent for awhile until I'm well traveled enough that I almost see most of the sterling places in the world. Then that's the time I would buy a house. However, its way greater if you purchase one and at the same time travel. That's if you have loads of money and you have trusted people who can take care of your place while you're gone. So, one at a time is still adviceable. Cool topic.

I would like to buy a house, as a matter of fact, I wouldn't mind if I have more than one house. I want to buy a house for my parents, and one for myself. To rent a room, is just not like home. You know you rent the place, you won't stay there for a really long time....
To buy a house of my own, I know it is my place, itis my pocession, I would take care of them and make it a home...
The feeling of having a house of my own, and renting a room is totally different.

Yes I'd like to buy a house for myself sometime in the future. Hopefully I'll be able to make enough money to buy one. xD It's way more pricey than just renting an apartment but it's definitely better and has lots of advantages like the things you've mentioned.

Well i think owning a house would be great! But you have stop and think about what it takes to own a house. Rather or not if u have good credit, bad credit or even credit at all. Then you got to think about if you can afored the payments on the house. Just some ideas to think about. Personaly i agree with you livnig with other people and being worried if your going to get kicked out or not is not all that fun to think about.
