Low cost airlines are very good for traveling without spending too much money. However they don't offer the best of services and some say they are not so safe to fly. What is your opinion? Do you fly low cost? Do you trust them?

I am a very keen traveler. There are lots of low cost airlines in Europe and I have been on the two most popular ones that fly from my home country abroad. I flew with my oldest son when he was five years old to Sardinia. I noticed very little leg room and not even much space for the emergency exit rows. We arrived at the Italian airport and there wasn't a bus to our destination. The exchange booth was closed and so I had to get another traveler to exchange a small amount of money for me. Another time I had to sleep on the floor at the airport because the flight left so early in the morning. I lived far from the airports of Stansted and Luton in those days and preferred charter flights from Gatwick which was near to where my sister used to live. I moved and a couple of years took a low cost flight from Bristol to Faro. Last year I went on a low cost airline from Bristol to Riga. The cost of getting our baggage carried was terrible. The allowances were a mean 15kg per adult and the extra charges were high.

Yes I know what you are saying. I fly that airline too and have been bitten by the 15kg limit! Once we were delayed 5 hours, which can happen to any other airline, low cost or not, but they took ages to hand out free coupon meals and they did it just 10 mins befoe boarding. I was lucky enough to have been quite in fron in the queue.
I understand that they want to make money with these measures, since the flights are very cheap but I am more concerned that such airlines don't pay money for safety standards

I shop for low cost airlines and usually get very good prices. Many low cost airlines are as safe as the others. Maybe the upholstery of the seats is not as nice but I don´t care. The most I could spend aboard a plane will be 12 or 14 hours. If I went to Europe from my country (Chile) I would make a stop somewhere in between.
I trust low cost flights as much as I trust high cost ones. I´m alive ergo I´ll die someday

That is such a cool answer... well yes we must all die one day or another but am not willing to think about that for now :) I still have to reach my goals and one of them is to make loads of money online :) :)
As for 12 hours on a plane: that sounds a lot to me. I love traveling, but I like visiting the places and not actually getting there and back. I have spent hours in a car to get from one place to another, but when you are driving, you can stop a bit and maybe in the meantime see other places. A plane is such a confined space! The most I have traveled with a plane were four hours (and back) and luckily some of the time I was asleep :) But then again, we have only one world and it's worth a visit :)

I use low-cost every time.
I have just come back today from UK to Italy using one of the low-cost airlines and everything was fine. We even landed ahead of schedule just as we usually do.
I book quite a long time before I will actually be leaving and that way I pay even less. I have been using them for over 10 years and have never had any problems at all. Indeed one year because of fog, Heathrow was closed and the bigger more expensive airlines which use it were all being directed to Stansted where I always go. It is a more modern airport and the fact that the low cost airlines use it does not mean it is less safer - and that day with the fog was proof!

low cost airlines is good choice for people who like to have a long travel.it not only save money but also save your time. you can get your denistation in a short time.
without double, low cost airlines have big market. but you should to know that expensive value offer high quality, cheap value offer low qulity. but it does not meat that airline companies would offer bad serves.
i think that there are some tips to help you get low cost airline tickets. some airlines are in order to encourage their pessengers buy tickets online.they always set some discount tickets online. you can get low cost tickets by booking them online. another tip is order a ticket by a tour agent,by this way maybe you can get a low cost ticket.
if you have other tips, please tell me.
