Have you experienced anything positive from this recession?

I am losing my job within the next few weeks. It is the empty half of the glass. On the other hand it is also an opportunity to move onto some bigger better opportunity. That's what I see as the glass being half full. If it wouldn't have been for the fact I was losing my job how long would it have taken me to look for a better means of living? Not just regarding your job but everyday life, how have you been positively affected from this recession? Also if you know of any friends who may have positive stories.
