I would like to raise a cat

Kittens are more apt to be bitters than adults (the whole teething thing like human children.) In fact, if you want to know what kind of personality your cat has, get an adult, their personalitys are settled and many adult cats end up needing homes because something happens and their former owners can't keep them anymore.

Any cat or kitten can be friendly is properly socialized. But not many of them are going to be dog-tame. I would suggest getting book on cats before adopting to make sure that is what you want to do. I would also suggest adopting a pet from a shelter rather than buying a purebred.
