BEWARE NEW CELL PHONE SCAM, new modus operandi

before everything else, I'd like to thank all the people (my new friends now)that respond to my request adding me as a friend, I hope more will come.. About this new cell phone scam, twice already that I recieved this kind of text, and I quote " Hi, this is my new roaming number, I sent a package for you, there's a cell phone there and clothes and chocolates, paghati-hatian nyo n lang, saka loadan nmn itong number ko ng P500 kasi naubusan lng ako, me tatawagan ako emegency lang.(just part it among yourselves, and pls load this number of Php500, I have to call somebody, it's urgent)". Even though I have relatives from other countries, I sensed that it is a scam, first it is a new number, next, why will he/she ask for a load, and he/she did not give his/her name or even said my name. I know that they are sending this message randomly, then whoever recieved it, especially those unsuspecting victims may load their mobile phone wallet.Another modus Operandi of these cell scam gangs. I hope this will serve as a warning to everyone who can read this and please send it to your family members and friends. Another text message scam is telling you that you won this and that kind of contest, and before you can recieve your prize you have to send money or load to this person OR cell phone number..

Thanks for the information. I really hope more will be notified of this so as to avoid being victimized. And I also hope that those who will receive such text will use their common sense as you have used yours. You gave good reasons for not falling into this one. If a number is not in your contact list, it is but prudent to think who is trying to contact you. But even if the number is registered in your phone, beware if they are asking for money. Who knows, somebody just stole the phone and using the contacts he/she found to have much load as possible before shutting the phone off.

Actually, I got a free accident insurance last year from a well-known insurance company that hit the news this week. I was skeptical at first when I received a call telling me to claim my prize at their nearest office. Since the person who called me gave his assurance that I am in no obligation to purchase anything from them, I went to get my reward. I did not pay anything for the Personal Accident Insurance with P100,000.00 face value BUT one of their sales person tried her best to sell me one of their top-selling products. She is very good in cajoling anyone and if I was not out of work that time, I may have bite the offer. Oh, I checked the insurance certificate and its bound to expire this June, 2009. The covering company though is by an unknown insurance company and its only in partnership with the known insurance firm.

Hello iamcapricorn, good day to you my friend. Well, your welcome to be my friend that is why I approve your friend request, so if ever you have a problem here in this site, I will give you a hand as long as I can and as long as I know your problem. Well, let's go back to your discussion. Honestly speaking just like you iamcapricorn, i already recieved that kind of modus operandi regarding to cellphone load, i think the only reason why people do this thing is to gain money, for the good of their need they really want to scam people for a small amount of money due to the low economy. In my own based opinion the reason why people became scamers it's because of the status of the economy of their country, where many people really hard to find money and that's why they think that this is one easy way for them to earn. Well, i guess sometimes they also scam for a very huge amount of money which is also the reason why they are in jailed. If our government will really give job to all people, our country will no longer feel crisis because atleast they earn a good amount of money and if that thing will happen i do believed scamers population will decrease. By the way, I would like to share my experience in some street and store, while walking i got insufficient balance with my phone and i really need to be shared a load. I go to a store, then ask for a sharing load and the vendor told me that why you need to be shared? Why don't you try to load your phone with a regular load and i will give you a good discount, then I go try to load about 30 php load and you know what is the price of that load? It's only about 15 pesos! Then i begin to think about it and i figure out that may be that people doing bad thing to load me up for that particular amount. Then after going to school my classmate told me that i must be aware of those people who sell load for a very small price. Which I encounter while walking. Well, i guess that's all the end of my response in your good discussion! Thank you! Happy posting and happy earning to everyone of us here in mylot.

I've received numerous versions of cell phone scams, like someone posing as a relative asking for load or contests which I have not joined (they even have DTI numbers!). I know many are aware of these scams. As for me, I just ignore it, especially if I have doubts of the sender's identity.

Good for you, and the legitimate number is only 3-digits, not 11-digits as most scammers used. thanks

I am wary all these scam that's happening nowadays, I am wondering why there are heartless people who always think of bad things for their fellow men. Just keep distance yourself from these modus operandi. It is better safe than sorry.

Good day, iamcapricorn. Well, I had received a scam text message but of other format. The message said that he was my brother and I must load him 150. I know that this is a scam because I do not have a brother, but a sister. It was obvious that he was trying to fool me lol. Another message said that I won 200,000 in the raffle draw. It is also said that in order to claim my prize, I must load them 1000. I didn't join into it so why do I claim it? We must be aware of that. Happy mylotting...=)
