Public University students turned into activist?

As of this day, there are lots of issues revolving around the depths of our country and they are not been recognized or the victim for these reluctant issues are people who doesn't know, maybe they doesn't care anymore on what's happening on our country. Good thing there are students who form groups from different Universities in our country especially from UP and PUP. I myself is a student too and we know that we are the one that will be the next generation of our country, and can only be the one who can oppose these wrong doings, issues and situations that the country has been in. So what can you say about the fact that most of them having a rally in front of different establishments expressing the real faces of the government then later on turned down, maybe been arrested, kidnapped or the worse be killed for shouting what should be do or not to do for the sake of the country.? Is it really bad to express what's in our mind to everyone, although the constitution says that we have the rights to do it, rather than hiding in the blouse of our mother not caring whats happening around us.?

Well sometimes it needs a little bit of awareness that the public needs to know. The activist doing their thing does add to the information dissemination of everything but sometimes they do become a distraction to our daily activities that somehow make the protest a little bit of annoying at times especially when they would block a certain part of a road and you happen to pass by the road then you will just be delayed in all your task for the day. But I do understand that you are fighting for the rights of others and for the betterment of the government. Without those protesters our country might become more corrupt and unmanageable.

thanks for your response dude, anyway although they've been cause of some distraction on public motorist, I'm sure they never cause the failures that the government did in the past. Graft and corruption are well rounded here in our country that they are doing this things in front of many people.

It is not bad to express our opinion, it is always our right, but if every minute of the day we have to be on the street shouting our lamentation and disappointment for our country, I just cannot do that, I still have of plenty of things to do. Besides, I can help our country in some positive way.

i think this happens because these children or students were able to see how much more there is in life to offer that they are not getting. well for the most part, i think they need more guidance from their parents because they are easily led into something they must have not fully understood.

Hello ulqu1orra, good day to you! Here in our country in the Philippines, there are so many issues which until now ard not resolve by the government. Some question that are not resolve are those regarding to the government issues like corruption, with this issue some student from different school relate with the particular issue that we are facing and sometimes people show their feeling with this matter by making a rally in street which some called activist, people who express their true feel are called with the word activist. For me, In my own opinion the reason why public university student turned into a activist because of the reason they are studying in a public university where they are one of the student who really feel the bad things about the corrupt politician which the bad things like taking some of badget and putting it in their own pocket reflect in the school that they are studying which is the public university. Well, if you didn't get my point with my statement, what i am try to say is this: when a politician take the money or the badget for a particular program or structure especially in school or university, the students in that university feel and see that the badget are not use and put it inside the pocket because student from public school knows the program from one particular structure and they really see it when there is a improvement. Then if there is no improvement they begin to start to show their opinions, thoughts regarding that particular issue. For me in my own opinion, Being an activist is good because you show your though for a particular issue, if it is good or bad. But some government official arrest some activist because they really scared about the truth that student knows the right particular situation and they no longer lie for it. That's why, sometimes there are actvist that are no where to be found. Well, that's all the end of my response here in your discussion! Happy posting and happy earning to all of us! Good luck to earning career! Thank you!

I think the youth has EVERY RIGHT to express themselves because they will be the heirs of this nation. I'm a PUP student and I know what it feels like to be stepped upon by authority. If at school students are told to shut up, what more if they become citizens? Students must fight for their rights -- education and a certain future. What I see nowadays is the commercialization of the education system. I say the government must put priority in education. It is the best thing the government can invest. /what's happening is education is being handled by private schools. I never thought the government is doing this. This is the reason why many can't get a bachelor's degree.

What's wrong in being an activist if it's for the common good? And why should not the public universities students be so? After all, they were being supported by the taxes of the people so their loyalty should always be for the masses. I came from a public school too and I am grateful that the institution made me more aware and be more critical of social issues. If given a chance again, I will still be marching in the street, be in public debates or hearings and let the voices of those who can't speak for themselves be heard. I know there are dangers that lie ahead, but then, I'd rather live fighting than sulk in fear.
