Cupcakes decoration

Cupcakes are great alternative for parties, especially kid's birthdays, wedding showers, or tea parties for you for your little girls. How do you choose to decorate them? You buy the decoration or you make it yourself? The picture that I am posting is an example of my preferences I make the flowers in sugar paste, and is not that hard when you know how, of course.

I love doing cupcakes for all kinds of things, whether just for our own use, or for parties, picnics, etc. For the kid parties, I like to make the cupcakes in an ice cream cone and then decorate it to look like the kind of ice cream cone you buy with the swirly top (coming to a point like when it comes out of the machine.) Then I let the kids choose their own decoration to put on top, like a variety of sprinkles, etc. They think it's fun to decorate their own before eating it lol. Other times I'll take decorators icing (the kind that gets hard) and pre-make little roses to stick on top. I very rarely buy pre-made decorations when it's fun, and fairly easy, to make my own. I'm very lucky that when I was growing up my favorite Aunt was very into cake decorating...I learned a lot from her!

Yeah I saw these icecream cupcakes on the food channel but I have never try them myself, sure those are cute and fun, I can imaging the "party" for the kids. Royal icing is versatile for all kinds of decoration, also fondant makes beautiful decorations, and lucky you had an Aunt who allowed you to learn from her. I had to take lessons in order to learn. I enjoy baking and decorating.

Hehehe, no, NOT ice cream cupcakes. I use regular cake batter in the ice cream cones and bake the little cakes right in the cone for the same amount of time as regular cupcakes. Kids love 'em (and so do most adults) I don't use ice cream unless it's a side dish to go with it. Thanks for b.r.! Happy baking :-)

I use cupcakes for my children's birthday cakes. They like to have a party at school. So I always get cupcakes to take. We make the cupcakes look like a design. Happy MyLotting!!
