....that found a stray and tried to sneak it into my house, and when caught, I asked my mother if I could keep it. I also realize this has happened quite a few times. Did you do this as a child? Or has your children? Or grandchildren? Niece? Nephew? Hrrrrrrrrrm? On a different note, I totally got to keep a kitten for 3 days before my mom found out!

I never had to, strays seemed to find us! There was never a time when we didn't have a few cats or dogs because someone was forever dropping them off at our house when I was a kid and even now that I'm married and on my own. So far I've taken in three stray cats and will continue to do so because I can't turn any of them away. I would hope someone would feed me if I were one to show up at their door. I just can't turn a hungry animal away.

No I'm not but having pets here already these people seem to think I can or will take another one and drop theirs off in front of my house. It was done at my parents old place too A LOT and we took them in knowing we have enough as it is or too many but we can't turn them away because after all, the animals didn't ask to be born any more than they asked to be put in the position these idiots put them in.

I only brought a lost dog home once... and we didn't get to keep him. Mom's allergic to dogs so she told me that she would let us take care of him for a day and if we hadn't found the owner by then she would take it over to a friend's house and the friend would look for the owner. I'm not much of a dog person these days, and I wasn't much of one back then, so I can't for the life of me figure out why I wanted to keep that dog. Maybe it was just so cute it broke through my dog-fearing exterior or something.

Yeah I have to say I'm not much of a dog person either, but they are OH so much more active than cats...Well, not more active than MY baby cat hehe. My dad was kind of scared of dogs, I guess he had a bad experience, but NOW, he's just a sucker for my sisters' Cocker Spaniel lol.

Yeah, Elic was ALWAYS bring in baby snakes that the cats caught. She had an annoying way of dropping her hand right in front of you with the poor little things. Scared me once that way! Then she wanted to drive some place far away to let them go in hopes they wouldn't get caught again!

I couldn't get an animal past my Mother, so I never tried to sneak in a stray. However, I did try & adopt some less fortunate child!!! I was bad about bringing home kids from school whose parents treated them like crap. Especially girlfriends...telling Mom that I needed a sister real bad & I could swap my mean brother for the sweet little girl I had brought home!!! Of course Mom never fell for it. I kept one sister for a whole weekend before Mom sent her home. Her parents had NO idea where she was & had called looking for her. I cried when she left!!!

Oh GOOD lord! lol, wow, well I certainly hope this little habit didn't stick with you as you grew lol. But at least you were a good friend to those girls. Whenever my parents fought, I would ask my friend if I could go have a sleepover at her place, and she always said yes, and said, "If you have to talk about it, you can." Thanks for responding and happy myLotting!

Oh yes, I sure tried this more than once. Some would have said I would be like Elle May and take in all of them if I could have! I have not seen my grandson do that yet but it will nto surprise me when he does!

I did this all the time and still do. i have a terrible reputation for taking in strays. My family has given up trying to reform me and just teases me.

hehe, aw! Yeah, I got SICK of looking at strays back home in Nova Scotia, especially where the main university is. People see a kitty, or a puppy, want it, so they get it. But then this person is out constantly, partying, always different reason, doesn't have a job, so the poor animal doesn't have food, and is also becoming love-deprived. I rescued at LEAST 3 cats from the apartment building a boyfriend of mine was staying at. What's worse is that these were all kittens! I told off at least 1 of the people who was doing this, and oddly enough it was my ex boyfriend lol. Thanks for responding and happy myLotting!
