When did your baby's bellybutton fell out?

my baby is 8 days old and i read it has to fall by day ten, is this how it really happens or does it take a little longer ? or maybe a little shorter? and did you put anything on it? in the hospital they told me not to do anything, but some people say to put alcohol on it....what are your experiences with this?

From my point of view, every babies is different. Frankly speaking, i have no experienced in taking care of the bellybutton of my baby even though i just gave birth two months ago.
That is because my baby was admitted to the hospital for twelve days, therefore the nurses there took care of it. However, i did visit my baby every day. If i am not wrong, the bellybutton fell out within ten days, probably less than ten days.
I remember after the fall out of bellybutton, there was some light bleeding in the navel. However, the nurses there did not apply anything on it. After 1-2 weeks, the area was totally recovered. And then i just dare to bathe my baby, before that i only cleaned him with the warm towel, i was too afraid he would get infections as the navel area was not dried out yet.
