I don't know about you but I am 35 and my kids homework just slays me. I cannot believe some of the stuff they bring home. My 5 year old is doing stuff I don't think I did in high school. My oldest, 10th grade, I was no help for him a long time ago. They make me feel old and stupid. Does anyone else out there have the same problems or is it just me?

I suggest that you talk to the teacher. Most now have their own emails that they will share with you and many cities have homework hotline's. You teacher will know what is available. Once you get use to the way teachers are having to teach these days then it will be easier for you to know what needs to be done. But do not let the child fool you, the teacher explained the work in class and the child knows how it is done 90% of the time. But they will try to get extra attention by getting your help or getting you to do the work for them.
The key is communication with the teacher. I am sure that he/she will be willing to work with you as much as you need. Their goal is the same as yours to make sure your child is the best student possible.

I have tried that and even sent notes to school and they have kept them in from recess or whenever they could fit it in there schedual and helped them out. I have checked into a site that is tutors online. It is free. Thanks for the help. Maybe we will all learn something. (my kids and I that is).

Ya, I have looked into getting a tutor but I can't afford one right now. Luckily, my oldest son is able to help them, when he is home. Maybe if I paid him a little, he would be home more often.

Yes I do & I have helped my daughter with her college work as well. I am in the process myself of going back to college & I will take my classes online. I also tutored my kids at home.

I can't imagine trying to help with college. I would have to go back to school myself before I could even think about doing that. Congrats to you! I feel bad when they bring something home and ask for help and I look at it and then I have to say "I don't get it either".
