Usually, we use anti virus softwares to protect our computer from online threats, viruses, trojans, worms, etc. But do you really trust these anti virus softwares? In my experiences on anti virus, they can give you protection from threats, however, side effects also occur like slow downs of your computer, and slow browsing capability. My computer don't have anti virus anymore, I used "deepFreeze" for my computer's protection, this way, I can avoid many threats, like file corruptions and accidental file deletions... I will not worry about it anymore because if I happen to delete an important system file, I'll just restart my computer, then my computer will be back to normal... How about you guys, what do you use to protect your computer?

I use nothing to protect my PC seriously. Because I am fed up with this antivirus software. They just eat up my precious system resources and when ever they are needed they fail to lie up to my expectations. Virus can easily control them. And the last option lefts with me is to format my PC. Thus I don't use an antivirus now and I am very contented with this. I just follow some simple steps to take care of my PC.

I use kaspersky Anti-Virus. From what I hear it is the best Anti-virus software. I have not had any problems with it so far. I dont like the screeching sound it make when it detects someting. It has not really slowed down my computer. I also use the firewall with comes with windows. I thinks its called windows firewall. Every thing is working fine so far, I am hoping it continues.

Currently, i'm already using AVG Anti Virus Guard for protection against viruses, Disk Cleaner to clean out my computer from junk files and digital crap, Auslogics freeware such as both Disk Defrag to defragment my files, and Registry Defrag to fix my registry. The one place that I can get my freeware needs to protect my computers from such threats like viruses, malware, spyware and other bad things, I go to Snapfiles.com.

Well, deepfreeze is somewhat like a bulletproof of your computer, you can't destroy its core, even the deadliest virus on the internet cannot penetrate its protection, well you can notice the destruction of your files from a high risk virus or trojan. You can even get some errors if your computer got infected from a flash drive or any external devices with viruses... But don't you worry, deepfreeze can eliminate those symptoms and effects of that certain virus or trojan that infected your computer, you only need to restart your computer so that those infections will reset to zero, I mean the infections will somewhat like, it didn't occur in the first place because of deepfreeze. Ok, I'll explain further, if you have deepfreeze activated on your computer, then while surfing the net or transfer files from external storage, then your computer gets infected, just set your mind to relax and say "I don't care if my computer gets infected, I'll just restart my computer". Deepfreeze work like this, it freezes your clean system files, depending on your settings on what drive you freeze, that drive will never accept writing, (saving or modifying files) if that drive is frozen by deepfreeze. So, if you restart your computer, no matter how much infections you got from viruses, when you restart your computer, it will turn back to normal as if, nothing happens.. I recommend you to install deepfreeze after a fresh windows installation and driver installations. Disconnect your computer from the internet when installing windows and other drivers, then install deepfreeze. That way, you'll freeze your system clean. I think that's it, hehehe, just ask me anytime if you have other concerns....

My hubs and I use comodo (which doesn't do anything from what I can see) and also AVG antivirus. (free) We had AVG antispyware which worked great, but the trial version expired. Norton we found was useless as were so many others.

What exactly do you mean by deleting important system file and why is it virus will not attack after deleting a system file? I didn't get it at all. I am using two antivirus because I have two o/s in my system. I am using symantech and Avira Anti virus. for last 3 months, I did't get caught with any virus and I hope that it will not catch any in future also!

What I mean is that, we cannot avoid that others may use your computer. In our house there are many kids that sometimes play with my computer, they sometimes browse the internet, use a flash drive that I didn't know. There is this one time, when i turn on my computer, it didn't boot up because of some corrupt and missing system files, and this kid really explored a lot on my computer, she just said she went in the windows directory, and messed with the files there. I got even tons of viruses when i checked my system even I got an antivirus installed. Antivirus cannot recover deleted files though... That's why deepfreeze is my solution, I don't worry any threats anymore, I just restart my computer, then puff it's back to normal...

A DeepFreeze is a tiny software that can disable the writing function of any system... It will not allow any change to be made by the system, any changes that occurs, like a virus infection, or a change in system settings on the system will be nullified after the computer restarts... But you can choose what drive you want to freeze. It is recommended that you freeze the system drive, like drive C:\ where all your system files are stored...

That's too bad... But you know, there are also some antivirus that I can recommend you. Use AVAST PRO or AVIRA, you can update it anytime you like, but you must have a valid serial key to update the core program... The virus definition can be updated though.... Hope it helps...
