daily work. If you get the power to add more time to a day how many more hours would you add to a day to make it sufficient for you?

I would rather forego the choice Bala. First of all, even if I am going to be given any number of hours extra, I am going to be the same way I am.I would do urgent work [when the occasion demands]in a jiffy and would laze around with somehting else[mylot, a book, chat, write for pleasure] when I feel like.Extra hours would not make any differnce to how I behave.

An important thing I forgot to add is thta it is a matter of time management than the real shortage of time.

Got it.You have the same view as mine about the time.I too finish off the work fast and relax when I do not have any work.I do both the things very seriously.

Seivana thirundha chei! So we can give our full dedication to working as well as having fun?--well said Bala. And recently I read 'Yavana Rani'[I did not see Chandilyan among your favourites]and it was written there that whatever is done must be done in the best manner possible--the dialogue and the style of writing were extremely humorous in that particular context.

Since the hours continuously pass by we cannot add hours to a day since 24 hours is what comprises a whole day and you cannot say you will add an hour or two to make the day longer. What you can do is either to work faster and make the best of your time or work longer than the usual number of hours to finish all your tasks. So it's not logical to say you have the power to add hours to a day since time continuously passes by with no gap in between the days where you can insert an additional hour or two.I hope this makes sense?

I know that one can never add extra time.It is a hypothetical question in a very light vein.

Yeah I quite understood it was a hypothetical question but I just was not inclined to even consider the possibility of an impossibility happening. Cheers!

The one who complains about lack of time will always complain, even if you give him 48 hours in a day. Where there is a will, there is a way, it is we, who have to find time to dispose of our work. It is upto us how do we manage it. We need to know a bit of time managent so that we could utilise our time effectively and efficiently.

3 hrs. Right now I have three part-time jobs, three hrs more would give me time with my hubbie on days that I don't have time (2 hrs) and time to relax to get to sleep (1 hr relaxation time).

Hi bala, personally I think the hours we/I have in the day is fine and can always get most of the more important things done as well as doing other things that have to be done, so for me it is zero hours needed...lol LoLo

i think 24 hours is enough.but i want to get power to make the night a little longer and the day a little short than present. and i think this will result in a plunge to the housing price and i can also have more sleep and more time to self arranged for now i'm an employee and have to work for so many regulated hours. yeah, i just want more freedom.lol

I would prefer to be flexible Bala. Take off hours from the day when it seems unwantedly long and add a couple of hours when the need arises.

Humans by our nature are procrastinators for the most part and therefore no matter how many hours there are in the day it would not be enough. With all the technology we have to get things done faster and to do things we have not been able to do before (make a call while driving down the road...) we still say we don't have enough time. I say we need to slow down and partition our time so that we have time for work and we have time for family and we have time for play and we have time for ourselves. It is only by doing that that we are actually going to have enough time for anything. Great post Thanks Zelo

Adding hours to a day wouldn't work for me. I'd still procrastinate and fritter away my time. It's an interesting concept.

If we had more hours in each day, most of us would just waste it as we do our current time. Better to cut out the things we do by rote which aren't important or don't give us pleasure.

I think its only a matter of time management. It also depends on how much work we take on. But I think Id add 10 hours more to a day because that extra 10 hours would be for getting enough rest. So we can really say that we have worked all of the 24 hours but still we get to rest our body from all that hard work. It would be nice though if we can add extra hours when we really need it. Like when we have multiple projects to do but only little time to do it. Or with exams and things like that. An extra hour or two for review would be nice. But I living as we are right now, time management is the key to having the power of getting that 'few extra hours'

I think the 8 hours is enough for me. I don't have any complains about the time I presently have. I don't think I could afford working longer than 8 hours actually because I believe everything must be balanced. I also need to rest or give some time to pleasure.

I think the day's a perfect length for me. By the time I've had tea and gone for a walk in the evening, I'm looking forward to getting into bed with a good book! If I had to stay up much later I'd fall asleep anyway - and anything I did would be poor quality because my concentration would be flagging. I vote to keep the 24-hour day!

I wonder if we would fair better if we had 8 days in a week instead of 7, I mean 8 is such a nicer number and an even number, I know it would muck up the year a bit LOL! But I think we would do so much with an extra day rather than extra hours what do you think? If it was hours I think I would make it 30, so we could have an extra 6 but knowing Wolfie I'd spend the extra 6 asleep LOL! I am sure I was a nocturnal hibernating beastie in my past life cos I like my sleep too much!

One need proper time management to be able to accomplish one mission in a day. No matter how much time you extend there is no guarantee that you can complete your work. I have no complain of not having enough time as time is at my disposal.

My days aren't long enough so I wouldn't mind an extra 8 hours! I know it sounds like a lot but I need to catch up on sleep and I have DVDs I haven't had time to watch yet, so yes 8 hours it is. I have to be careful not to add more chores to the extra time though and to utilise it just for leisure time for me and nothing else.

I would not add anything at all. Time management is the key and not having more hours. If you add more, you will have more to do and if the is poorly managed, there will not be any difference as to how many hours we have in a day.

Yes the time added is not going to do any good for the seasoned procrastinator.
