There was a time when my baby really suffered from severe cough which persisted for more than a month. We went to several pediatricians, some were pulmonary specialists. She went through different medications, from antibiotic to antihistamine, to another antibiotic, to anti-ashtma drug, etc , but to no avail. In my helplessness, I decided to resort to traditional means of combatting fever and cough, that's through "hilot". In the Philippines, it's a sort of heavy massage. I don't know if there is science in it, but it really worked wonders for my baby. She was instantly healed! Hence, whenever my baby shows symptoms of fever/cough, I make it a point that she gets "hilot" first before we go to the doctor. So far, it's been effective! and it saved us significant bucks!

i am into herbal medicines... whenever my kids gets fever, fever the first thing i do is to give them paracetamol and look for what caused the fever... if its cough and colds, i give them herbal medicines... fresh, not those that are already in syrup. for my daughter she's "hiyang" in ginger, i just grate it and then let her drink the juice. for my other 2 sons oregano works for them, i boil water then put the leaves on it till it get soft then extract the juice and have my kids drink it. it works for them.
at the evening i rub efficascent oil on their backs and massage them a little, try to get those airs out... then put efficascent oil on their foot and let them wear socks while sleeping. that sure helps...
