Four Little Hounds of Hell

OK, these four puppies of mine may LOOK sweet , but I've about had it with them today! Despite my best efforts, they have managed to make a mess all over the house. Every time I lock them in the kitchen someone (normally my toddler) lets them out. And with four of them, I can't catch all of them at once! I've been running around the house like a woman demented! Seriously, they're like quicksilver. Whilst I'm locking one back up, another slithers through my hands while another sneaks between my ankles and the fourth distracts me! Every time I turn my back they steal something new and they've chewed the legs of the kitchen table something rotten, despite having all sorts of toys and chews to play with. I know it's not their fault and they are just exhibiting natural behaviour, but really, I just had to sound off! I'm praying tomorrow is a nicer day so I can let them spend the day outside. They need space to play as much as I need to see the back of them for a few hours. Have you got puppies? Ever had four at once? Any strategies for dealing with four little demons on a wet, cold day like today?

As an outsider who doesn't have to deal with them, they sound hilarious and precious! haha. What are you using to lock them in the kitchen? Maybe you should look at some puppy gates- just like baby gates but they are a lot harder to get out of! Or they also have little puppy corrals for indoor and outdoor use. it is kind of like a wire playpen for puppies. Those are not very expensive and you could even set it up in your kitchen if you have the room. I like these for multiple puppies because they work like a miracle from God and they are affordable, easy to put up and take down, and can be set up indoors or outdoors. Look into it and see what you think. Petco and pretty much all pet supply stores have a variety of choices. Four puppies and a toddler... I wish you lots of luck :o)

Bwahahahaa! At least you're getting a lot of exercise running around after them, GreenMoo! It must be exhausting! Never mind - all puppies eventually grow into big dogs - and then all they'll want to do is snooze. (You hope!)

Let's just hope that bigger dogs doesn't equal bigger trouble!

Never had puppies around, kittens are bad enough. Especially if one is a Rygel or Natasha. The lady who adopted Natasha had to put all her nick nacks away because the little darling was breaking them! She was having to lock her up when she went out because she was getting into everything! She would play with Rygel until he was tired, work on the other cats until they were tired of her and by then Rygel was recharged. All the cats HID from Rygel when he was a kitten, espcially his brother!

Simon, Sox & Blaze - Simon and 2 of the others
but only 4, at one point in November of 07, we had 6 of the darlings! The Fearless Foursome were about a week and a half older than the other pair, Simon and Tillie, who came in when they were about 6 weeks, indicating of course that those 2 were too young to have been taken from mom when they were dumped!

they were adorable, like the puppies can be, but we really had to make sure they didn't get full run of the house, because we'd never catch them all! Happily, they pretty much went from my room to the roomie's room because they were ready to eat, and then they'd play in there until we carried them back to my room.

There is a spray called bitter apple that you can spray on furniture and it makes it taste awful to them. I'm sure you could whip something up from your kitchen--maybe some hot sauce or cayenne pepper? Put a leash on your toddler so he won't open the gate? (Seriously, I had a leash for my youngest whenever we went out or he'd be long gone!) Get a big cardboard box and put the puppies in it with a bunch of newspaper. When you let them out they'll "go" and you can praise them! Hopefully--puppies and children never act like you think they will.

I wondered about locking the toddler in the kitchen with the puppies!

LOL, sorry you're having such a difficult time with them. That's part of the reason I refuse to own dogs. They're just as much work as having children, and I've had my fair share of that. I prefer cats who are totally capable of taking care of themselves 100% so long as you feed them and change their litter.

i prefer cats to dogs...as they wont grow into a bigger size like dogs.....

I'm sure the puppies will improve as they get older, but I must admit I'm more of cat fan too.

My friend here in mylot does. but i don't bother myself with having mess with these creatures. besides, am not equipped and have absolutely no time in taking care of these things myself. my hubby and i are busy all the time. besides, the last time i had a dog he accidentally bite my tongue and almost had me killed he wasn't vaccinated..

I'm trying to imagine how a dog managed to bite your tongue!
