Do people lecture you for telling the truth and/or saying what you belive?

The bible says to "love your enemy" and to "Turn the other cheek". And most of my family will lecture me for hours if I say anything against that. But the truth is, if we christians lived like that, we'd be at the mercy of anyone who belived otherwise. This is something I just can't get across to my family.
Another thing I belive in: hard justice. In the Virgina-Tech shooting 2 years ago, the shooter killed all those people because people at the school didn't treat him with respect. The people who did make fun of him brought that upon themselves, and were given nothing more than the justice they deserved. I also think this way in real life. If someone punches me, I puch back to give them what is coming to them. Then they ask why I hit them?
One more thing that sort of ties in with the first thing: people should defend themselves. I personaly do whatever nessesary to preserve my live. Whether that means ticking off PETA because I have reason to belive that a cat was going to attack me and I killed it instead, or paralyzing the queen of england because she was going to shoot me.
And another thing that tick me off: PETA. They set signed a petition against the "fat cow" at Mardi Graws, when there are people being kicked out of their homes and being nearly enslaved in third world countries, and they don't give a hoot about that. Seriously, people are so much more important that animals.
