Do u hae to clean house alone for evey one

I know how you feel. I have three kids, all of whom are slobs. But my eight year old has been really good lately, picking up after his little sister and cleaning up a bit. I taught them early on how to bring their plates to the sink when they're done eating, and give them praises when they do so. Every time they want to do something, I'll suggest that they help me clean up first. After they're done, lots of praises. Of course, we can't rely on them to do things the way we want them done, but if we want it done OUR way, then we should just do it ourselves, in my opinion. The best we can do is to give our appreciation when they DO try. We shouldn't ask for help then complain afterwards because they will not want to do it again for fear of being criticized and scolded even more.

I never get help. I have a 7 year old daughter, a 30 year old roommate that might as well be 14, and his friends constantly coming and going. If I want it done and done nicely I do it myself, period.. or it won't get done at all. I'd simply rather do it myself than have it done haphazardly.

Unfortunately, I have to pick up after everyone in the house. My two daughters are learning to clean after themselves slowly but my boyfriend is not too interested in doing his part. Of course, if I nag long enough he will get up and pick up his own mess but I don't like having to repeat myself and might as well do it instead of going back to redo it after him. I am quite picky about certain things and if they are not done the way I like them to, I go back and do it all over again.
