Do you know that today is Earth Day?

Yes, l also heard about the Earth Day from my television. They show a few minutes documentary of this special event of the year through television. I also doing my part by recycle my old newpapers and unwanted papers to the recycle company. Besides that, l try to use less electricity and water whenever possible.

Here are my plans for Earth Day: First, I've been collecting a lot of recylibles and I'll be taking them to the recycling center today. Also I plan on picking up some simple to grow seeds for my daughter to plant. Maybe even a small tree. Back when I was in college, the school would give you a tree sappling to plant each earth day. Maybe they're still doing that. I need to check the website and see. If so, there's my tree to plant =) I also plan on spending the day with very little TV, no lights on and conserving all the water I can. (These are things I do on a normal basis except for the TV being off). I love Earth Day! It makes me feel good that we're all coming together to help conserve our precious resources for future generations. Well...assuming we don't blow ourselves up with nuclear warheads...

I know through Newspaper and Television of Earth Day. But i cant do anything as i dont know how to help our lovely earth. I just only leave some SMS to friends that today is earth day thats all. I can attend any parade of any function to join the control earth destroying. But in mylot also good thing that we discussion about to control some earth problems. Yes this is a serious issue for me and I think we all should participate in any campaign to save the earth. Actually we don't need to wait for earth day to do something helpful for the mother earth. In our own home, school, office, community or every where we are we could make simple changes in our everyday lives which will actually make significant help to improve the earth we live in. Like what you did yourself Don! Everyone should be responsible citizen of this world. We have to love this earth which God has given us for free. I've actually read this useful tips about how we could help save the earth and I want to post it here to help those who could read to be aware of the many ways by which we could do our own share to save our earth from total destruction. 26 things we can do to help: 1. Turn off lights. 2. Turn off other electric things, like TVs, stereos, and radios when not in use 3. Use rechargable batteries. 4. Do things manually instead of electrically, like open cans by hand. 5. Use fans instead of air conditioners. 6. In winter, wear a sweater instead of turning up your thermostat. 7. Insulate your home so you won't be cold in winter. 8. Use less hot water. 9. Whenever possible, use a bus or subway, or ride your bike or walk. 10. Try to buy organic fruits and vegetables if you're concerned about pesticides. 11. Don't waste products made from forest materials. 12. Use recycled paper and/or recycle it. Reuse old papers. 13. Don't buy products that may have been made at the expense of the rainforest 14. Support products that are harvested from the rainforest but have not cut down trees to get it. 15. Plant trees, espessially if you have cut one down. 16. Get other people to help you in your cause. 17. Avoid products that are used once, then thrown away. 18. Buy products with little or no packaging. 19. Encourage your grocery store sell environmentally friendly cloth bags for shopping or other needs 20. Reduce, reuse and rcycle 21. Compost. 22. Buy recycled products. 23. Don't buy pets taken from the wild. 24. If you have a good zoo nearby, (if the animals are healthy and the zoo takes care of them), support it! Especialy if they help breed endangered animals. 25. Don't buy products if animals were killed to make it. 26. Cut up your six-pack rings before throwing them out. Frankly speaking I was not aware of the earth day till yesterday night. I was watching the TV and then I saw President Obama's speech on energy conservation and clean energy ....... when I became aware of the earth day. We are facing severe environmental problems today and if not acted in the right moment and the right spirit by all countries we are or rather our children are going to pay for this heavily. Already ice sheets in the Antartica have started breaking(as seen from a program in Nat Geo) and the day is not far when we would end up destroying the whole ice sheets in the poles ........ and the consequences are so destructive that it is beyond anybody's imagination. And every country around the world needs to act. We cannot forestall the environmental problem if only the USA tries to reduce green house emission and on the other hand India and China carry on rapid industrialization without any formidable green and clean energy policy. Here at least I see at how alarming rate trees are being cut just to build large townships and multistory buildings. In India every city has seen a temperature rise of at least 5 degree celcius over the last decade. So a combined effort is what is necessary and I believe US needs to take the lead and use diplomacy to ensure other rapidly industrializing countries also follow the clean energy path.

Well, I do try to do some simple things like using water with very low / minimum wastage as well as switching off lights of a room when not in use . However,I do think that I can do much more .

i don't know, but i think i must do something for this. i must do my best for earth, i must do that, then i will find the kind heart in my mind. also let others know the earth is our home. we must protect it. don't let my mother pain by their son.as a son of earth we must do the things from the place around us, if you don't do many things there will not good environment for our children.

i have been seeing this all day on the television. I haven't had time to do any celebration I have been babysitting all day. I wouldn't know the first thing to do any way to celebrate this occasion. Happy Earth Day to everyone.

yes. i didnt join to any parade of what so ever! i do it everyday by not destroying any thing from our mother earth.. thats my way of saving mother earth

I think we should be celebrating Earth Day everyday, we should not just think the state of our planet today, but rather we should think for its future. Everyone of us will suffer the consequences about the state of our planet. But do we really care? Do we care enough of throwing bunch of wrappers over sidewalks and just don't care on what will gonna happened with it? Think about it. We should celebrate Earth Day everyday in our own little way....

Hi. Yup I know about the earth day being celebrated today. I am away from home and don't have my friends here so I don't know what to do, but if I comes across something that can help I'll surely go for it.

The significance of celebrating earth day is, atleast on this particular day people abstain from destroying our Mother Earth. A handful is concerned in protecting our Mother Earth and not all does that. Atleast in this form, people try to save earth from our day to day activities that have negative impact on our Mother Earth.
