hi all! my baby is only a month and a half old. i am not sure what she is going through, but sometimes when she is fast asleep, she would just almost immediately cry uncontrollably and she would not be hushed. we would have to carry her just to calm her down. i wonder why this is so? it seems she is having a bad dream...but i wonder do babies this young already have dreams? what could they be dreaming about? have you experienced this? i wonder what triggers this happening. could this be avoided? because sometimes i get to work right after i put her to bed and then suddenly she cries so i have to carry her again and try to put her to sleep. when she is calm, i put her back to bed. then after awhile, she will cry again because she is already hungry because so much time has lapsed already and she already needs to eat. so i don't get to do anything at all. i wonder why this is happening? do you have any idea? please let me know and i appreciate all your comments here. thank you all and God bless you! happy mylotting! :D

It could be a couple of things..maybe she is dreaming maybe she is uncomfortable or got startled etc....I would avoid however, ALWAYS picking her up..that can become a habit thats hard to break later on and can lead to problems....Sometimes it perfectly fine to let a baby cry themselves back to sleep....

i agree but go in after 5 min if she keeps crying but don't pick her up rub her back and talk to her then in a few min walk back out of the room , she will know you are there and feel better and go back to sleep my daughter use to do that all the time but i learned just to let her go,

My baby boy used to do that alot when he was smaller, now he's 8½ month old and he seldom does it anymore. I was told that babies have dreams already from the beginning so it may be it, they have alot of new things to discover that may make them a little afraid... and it may also have to do with if the baby is throwing up alot, it may burn inside the tummy or throat when they lay on their back, cause when my son sleeps on his side or on his tummy he's not bothered by that.

Some babies are like that, they cry when they felt their mother isn't beside them or if they were no longer in their mother's arms. As every babies, they love to be cuddled and held by their mother most of the time, specially when you have got your baby used to carrying her all the time. just like my niece, she was ok at first but then later on when her mum was carrying and cuddling her all the time, she got used to it and so whenever she gets to sleep and her mum would put her down, she would cry and won't stop until her mum carries her again.. I had to tell her its better to lessen the time she spends carrying her, she can just let my niece lay down and play.. or something..

My son has been doing that alot lately and he's 18mo's my 3yo does that from time to time. I think it is mainly due to dreams they are having. And or they are uncomfortable, especially my son as he's obviously still in diapers.

I think it is normal!my niece is six month old when she sleeps deeply she can smile.I asked my mother why?she told me that sleeping means growwing for the baby.so don't worry, when the baby sleeps you can let she listen some soft music.you can have a try!best wishes!
