So happy to publish the first children story in ebook format at lulu. It's really easy to write a children book and published it in lulu. Take less than 24 hours from the conception of idea to the publication. So happy now, hopefully can sell at least 10 copies of the book. The store name is Siew Cheng Hoe. The cover for the ebook is a photo I took at the Taoist temple. It is one of the wall painting.

Thank you. Do give a try even if you have never published before, it's much easier than you think. And children story is the easiest to write. Everything is possible, even to ask the sun to come out from the west.

Belated welcome to mylot. Hope you enjoy yourself here. Many of us are very busy posting and commenting during this time of the month, hopefully to earn enough to reach payout by the end of the month. Just a tip to you, post longer comment (about 7 lines), and you should be able to reach payout every month. Enjoy yourself and make a lot of friends here.

I didn't know about Lulu.com. It's a great resource for anyone who owns their own business as well, a good marketing tool. My brain is already churning with ideas.

Hi Sunmoonandstars, I agree that Lulu.com is more better for people who own their businesses. Lulu.com even allows using traffic exchanges to channel traffic. That's something that cannot be done at many article submission site. Please keep us posted on your adventure with lulu.com

Mine is in ebook format, publication is almost instant. If you want to sell your book in physical and online bookshops, you have to acquire the IBSN number, which you can access from lulu. There are some writers who choose both option, the print copy (mostly in paperback) is much more expensive than ebook format. Some writers even let readers enjoy free download of ebook. Even a 1,000 words article can be converted into ebook and sell for a few bucks.

Congratulations! I hope you'll let us know how the sales go. It must be very rewarding, aside from money, to write for children. I hope your book is a success!

If you tell me one year ago to write and publish children story, I will say I can never do so. Now that I have tried and successfully published, I feel it's the easiest thing to do. Children have lively imaginations (so do I, I'm only 5 years old at heart) and everything is possible. The whole story is less than 1,500 words, if I can make $50 from it, I will be very happy.

CONGRATS! It is wonderful to hear that something so unique, the Taoist temple, encouraged you to write an ebook. How did you like using the LuLu site to publish your e-book?

Hi Oceanzealot, thank you. The Taoist temples are really artistics, with a lot of beautiful wall carving and paintings. Those really bring me into fairyland. I like the easy publication system in Lulu. There is no need to wait weeks to publish. Plus I can quote my own price. The only thing I do not know is the marketing part. I'm still learning and reading the forum.

Did you have to pay lulu for publishing your book in e-format? I have not ever heard of lulu, or maybe I have but I havent visited the website or considered writing a book. Good Luck!

Hi Roxanne, you do not need to pay lulu anything for publishing the book. Lulu earns when you earn. If you put your book for sale at $1, Lulu commission is 25%, meaning $0.25, so the buyer will have to pay $1.25 to download your book. The minimum payout from Lulu is $5 and pays direct to your paypal. Publishing is very easy, everything is automated. Upload your story in word format, the conversion to pdf takes just a few seconds to a few minutes (depend on the length of your file). You do not even need to write a thick book. Some writers make their ebook available for free, the length is only a page or 2. Some sell for a few cents. It's quite an experience, encourage you to give a try. The difficulty is in the marketing. I have not learnt how to market my book yet.

This is great news! Congratulations on this accomplishment. I am sorry I did not see this discussion sooner. How have the earnings been for the book? What is the story about?

Hi Canellita, sold only two books so far, I didn't really spend time to promote the books, just let it be. I didn't even bother to do a writeup for the storefront, to make it searchable! I wonder where the buyers come from. Considering that the writings take just an hour or so per book, and they are children stories, I am quite happy with the earnings. I read in the forum in lulu.com that most ebooks in business and finance sells very well, poetry and children books are at the bottom of the list.

Hi Canellita, lulu.com is one of its kind, hardly have any website comparable to lulu.com. It's through the discussion thread in mylot that I get to know lulu.com. Some writers here published fantasy tales or poems, and self-published in lulu.com. I doubt they did enough marketing, however, they did enjoy the writing and sell a book every now and then. The best about lulu.com is that you can use whatever marketing method you want, traffic exchange is acceptable. According to the discussion in the forum at lulu.com, some writers use a few traffic exchanges to generate traffic to promote their ebooks, and nearly shut the whole lulu down. Even then, it's ok with lulu.com, since lulu earns commission of 25% on sales.

Good to know about this, so you had a good experience with this site, i planned to join with this site, give me more information about this site. I know they are paying through paypal, what is their minimum and is it easy to promote our books using this site?

Hi Vidhyaprakash, it is hard to promote your books. This place is not like those writing sites where people read for free. You have to get people to buy the book, and the site keeps part of it as their revenue. If you are writing business books, you have a chance to sell a few copies. But not for stories, you will not make much money.
