Why so quickly?

Today I noticed a discussion that was only one day old, where the OP had already marked the best response. Why would one mark a best response in a discussion before the conversation had barely been given the chance to get started? I normally wait weeks or even months before I mark the best response in one of my discussions so that I am sure that everyone who wanted to post has had a chance. Also, I try to let the discussion peter out first so that I am sure that the response that I have marked as "best" is truly worthy of the title. What's your policy? When do you mark the best response in the discussions that you start? Why?

Not that I consider it a policy but, I have not really awarded anyone best responses lately. Before, I did when I was posting on the riddles interest and would grant the first one who could solve my riddles with the best response. For the other typical discussions that I have started, I think I am even going through my unresolved discussions and have been looking through old ones that even have covered a year without having any of the participants in the discussion be chosen as a best response. (^_^")

It is even funny when they try to reply back after a long time when I finally get to decide which response I would grant as the best. They would even mention that in their post. (^_^")

Yes, I have noticed that some members do this as well. It is nice of them to do so, but I think that it is unnecessary. I view choosing a best response as a way to thank others for their excellent comments. Sometimes I follow up a best response with a friend request if I really enjoyed the comments or felt that they were useful.

Well, it isn't a requirement to choose a best response. I do it so that I can tell other members that I enjoyed their post and appreciated their comments. I think that it is also nice to award members with recognition for their work. Not everyone is interested in spending their time on myLot doing this kind of activity, and that is okay too as far as I am concerned. Cheers ratyz.

Well I think it is up to whomever started the discussion but this is how I do it. I try and give my discussion time to get a lot of responses. I also try to see at least 5 as a miniumn. Now I have had some that only got one and a few months went by so I thought they made the only response they deserve the best one. I guess it depends on the person. Lately I have not been keeping up on picking a best one. I realize sometimes it seems like there are so many I do not want to pick just one so I do not pick any, lol. I know I should be if I feel there was more than one what am I to do? Anyway I hope I answered your questions here and I also wish you a great day online and on mylot.

It certainly is up to the discussion starter to decide who the best response is and how/when they want to choose one. I usually choose a best response only if there is at least five or six responses to choose from. If the comments are exceptional, then I would consider them irregardless. I have run into the situation where there were several great responses and it was hard to choose only one too. I choose one and I don't worry about the decision. Someone deserves to get credit and there will be chances for the other member to get a best response later on. Thank you very much for sharing mt2mi. Cheers.

Thanks for responding to my response and I think this is a great discussion. I am hoping you get many responses to it and again thanks for responding to me.
