Just reconnected with my mother after seven years...

It's amazing really. Just when I got to the point where I was coming to terms with the idea that she may never speak to me again, she calls me. It's a long story, but the gist of it is that she has some emotional problems.I confronted her about the emotional abuse she subjected me to as a child, and I addressed her psychological issues to boot. (suspected schizoaffective disorder) She completely shunned me. Now she says she loves me and she forgives me. But I can't help but wonder if I should put my guard down. I let her in no questions asked. She is my mother. I feel a little apprehensive though. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
