I recently netflixed season 1 of this show and Im currently watching season 2. Season 3 has premired this month on showtime. I really like this show. I think that have done a good job as far as keeping as close to history as they can for a made for cable drama. Johnathon Ryes Meyers does a good job at protraying King Henry and I really like Henry Cavill, who playes his best friend Charles Brandon. Eventhough you know the story of King Henry VIII they way that they produce the series it just makes you want to keep watching eventhough you know what happens.
Does anybody else watch the show and if you do what are your thoughts.

I watched the first episode, and that was enough for me. It's too soap opera. However, I realise I'm in a minority on this, as everyone I know loves it. I expect it's because I have a BA in Literature and History and Tudor England is my speciality, so don't mind me. Even though they take liberties with history, there's still enough in there for people to pick up a lot about Tudor England.
If you ever come across it, try and watch The Six Wives of Henry VIII, starring Keith Michell, and Elizabeth R, starring Glenda Jackson. They were made for TV in the early 1970's but have aged well, with fantastic actors and gripping plotlines. If they don't come up on your networks, you can get them on DVD.

On showtimes website there is a fan site for the tudors and everyone on there that has studied Tudor England recommends watching The Six Wives of Henry VIII.
It is like a soap opera, but being that really makes everyone who is a fan go and and look up to see what is fact and what is fiction. Alot of people know alot more about Tudor England before this show came out.

I love the Tudors and yes I am one of those people who now has studied up on the actual history of the Tudors. The show succeeds in entertaining me and getting me to use my mind because I want to know what really happened. I have gone so far in my obsession of the history of the Tudors to wanting to know about the other Kings and Queens of England and now am currently reading a book entitled the Kings and Queens of England. It covers the history from William the Conquer to today. I am obsessed with anything and everything to do with the royal families of England. As for the Tudors I am going through with drawl and I can't wait to see season 4. I am sad that it has to end. The battle between Mary and Elizabeth would be entertaining to watch and I would love to see the shows depiction of the Lady Jane Grey who was forced by others to take the throne and was Queen for a mere 9 days. But alas they have said this is it and I must accept this. They would have to find captivating characters to take Johnathon Ryes Meyers place, maybe they think it would be too great a risk.

Yes, I LOVE this show... Jonathan Rhys Meyers who plays King Henry is sooo easy on the eyes. I think they are doing a great job in re-enacting what actually happened. I don't think Henry was that good looking in real life, in fact he was quite fat and he suffered from gout because he ate so much rich food.

Yeah King Henry became overweight after a jousting accident that messed his leg up, he couldn't exercise anymore and started eating way to much. At least that is what I've read.
