Ferrous Sulfate; How Effective?

I was recently diagnosed with anemia and my doctor said I should have more iron intake. I've been taking ferrous sulfate all my life and up to this date, it seemed not to work anymore, from the last count of my hemoglobin, it didn't even forward its count too much, my doctor then gave me a different medication that she think can help me out in balancing my blood count, this time it will be on a higher dosage, I'm hoping that this time it works. It doesn't affect my work though but it kinda concerns me because my blood count didn't change and I'm spending for this medication and I'm not enjoying having to remind myself of taking these drugs everyday to make sure that my blood count will go high. I even take two tablets at a time hoping to make it work, that is with my previous medicine, this time I'm taking only one pill at a time and I'll be getting the result of my tests this Tuesday, I'm crossing my fingers for positive results, as I need it for my work abroad. I need to be bloody fit for work!

I agree that you need to take it with Vitamin C so the iron can easily absorb by your body. The doctor told us also to take it with Vitamin C. Last March I advise to take ferrous sulfate because I suffered a prolonged menstrual bleeding to avoid having an anemia. I stop taking it because I want to get the iron with the food that I'm eating. Liver and malunggay are a good source of iron so it can help if you have anemia.
