What do you do when you can't sleep?

I am a night owl. I can't go to sleep at night no matter what I do. So what do you do when you can't fall asleep? What past times do you have that you do until you get tired?
I usually get on myLot and think of questions (like this one), find places to respond, check on my old ones and try to respond to as many as I can. There are a few shows I like to watch that come on and I also play some online games. If I get bored with any of that I sometimes try to do some homework.
If it gets too late I just put on my mp3 player and lay down and pray that I fall asleep soon.

Unfortunately I can't do what you do. I'm still a high school student, so sleep for me is very important. Occasionally I can't sleep at night. Before I would have gotten up and used the computer, but after getting caught and yelled at multiple times by my mom I don't do that anymore. Instead I just lay there on my bed hoping that I'll fall asleep soon. Usually I think about the dream that I had right before I woke up, and if I use my imagination to continue the dream in my head, I usually fall asleep again.

OHHH do I ever remember the days of the mom yelling at me to get my butt to sleep! LOL I miss those days now!

What I usually do when I don't fall asleep is READ while lying down and later on I eventually fall asleep. Reading is therapeutic it will really help you to feel sleepy. Try it.. when you are not sleepy? read while you are lying down and you will fall asleep. Good luck.

LOL Everyone keeps telling me to read. That doesn't help me because if I get into the book then I will NEVER go to sleep. LOL

I usually try to learn something new by reading through pages upon pages of web pages.. currently I am into page design so I stay up and work on my profiles or my secret web page.. my profile changes nearly everyday as I add new things or take things off. It keeps my mind busy.. you wouldn't believe the useless stuff I learn late at night when I can't sleep. :)

LOL Stormy actually I would. It's amazing the stuff you can find online or things you can learn in the middle of the night when you aren't even looking for it. It's kind of scary. HAHHAHAH

Hey prnces! I am also a night owl and have Insomnia! So you
can usually catch me on mylot until all hours of the morning!
If I can't sleep I get up and come back here! Why not try
and earn some money! I usually find someone up that I know
and sometimes even to chat with! I have tried reading and
sometimes that works. But, usually even if I do fall asleep
it isn't for long so I am up and back online again!

i will get up and dance breakingdance,it's so bad when i can't fall asleep..take sports can waste my engery,so when i feel tired,i can fall asleep soon.!!!don't drink too much coffee or cold and tea.it's bad for your sleeping.drinking milk is good

I think part of my problem is all the caffeine I drink. Maybe if I stopped drinking coke after a certain time it would be easier for me to sleep.

well i dont sleep all that well on any given night but i have gone on the computer or read in the past, but i have found that that was waking me up even more. now, i just generally lay there and play a game. i pick a topic and go through the alphabet. such as animals - a-albatross, b-bear and do that, this usually helps me sleep.

I not do anything when i can't sleep. I just close my eyes and thinking about good things, like good fantasy or like wake up dreams of travelling.
I just think about good think which feels me good and i easily sleepness in eyes.
Sometimes i ON my CD player with soft music my eyes will slolwy getting sleepy.

When I lived alone I would do stuff like that. Clean the house or do laundry. Now I live with lots of people so it's really hard to do any of those things.

i will still working in mylot. there is good family in mylot , we must study some work in it. and don't thought too many just for one things , to earn more and more money with the effort of hard work, i think no one can live a poor life, if you do your best at any work no mind how money you will get , then you will get the thing that you want, so must do you best to your work then after the hard work of the day you will qucily in to your sleep .and may be a deep sleep because you have gain a lot by your whole day work so you don't feel it is hard to sleep.

I prefer to read some books when I can't go to sleep. If you can't get to sleep in 20 minutes, you'd better do something to make you tired. But I don't think making exercises is a good idea. Because that will make you heart beat faster, you will feel more energy and more hard to sleep.

Reading isn't good for me to fall asleep. I have gotten to the point now that I just stay awake until I feel tired, but that isn't healthy either because then I get up early and I never get 8 hours of sleep.

Oh,are you a student?I am.And I cannot fall asleep easily just like you.LOL.I will read books I don't have time to read in the daytime,and that usually helps me to feel sleep becuase my brain has been working for a full day and now I give it another task and it just shut down(LOL).Sometimes I still cannot fall asleep or it is too late,then I will lay down and start to think what I have done in the daytime and what I will do the next day.This helps as I usually fall asleep unconsciously.I wish this will help you !

Yea I am a student as well. I have a problem with reading because if the book is good, even if I do get sleepy, I will want to stay awake even longer to read. LOL It's horrible.

yes, to get a good sleep try to follow a routine schedule like getting up at 5 am in the morning, exercise well so that u sweat well in the morning and then go for your day's work and in the evening too its better to exercise.. doing household work is also a good exercise, like sweeping and moping. also, dont forget to have food at exact timings - breakfast before 8 am, lunch before 1.30 pm, tea/snacks before 4.30 pm and dinner before 8 pm. if you follow this strictly, am sure u would get a good sleep. but one more matter considers, u need to keep your mind calm without any stress or tension. for that yoga would be the best.. so give a try.

I did have a routine when i was working but now that I am not working I don't. I live with a lot of people and I sleep in the living room so it's hard to go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time.

I'm usually a terrible insomniac. And occasionally I get pretty restless. I try wearing myself out by cleaning, going out for a run, reading, writing, or spending time people whose energy is usually always high.
It doesn't always work, so I move onto more relaxing things, then. A ot bath, "comfort food", curling up in my warm bed and sticking a movie in my laptop.
Both methods have worked for me, before, it's just that neither of them work all the time. ^_^' sometimes there's no helping it, I just won't get to sleep.

it's not healthy to be awake at all times. we need to sleep at least 6-8 hours to let our systems energized again. try drinking milk after dinner and set your bedroom in a dim mode. you should really this.

Me I drink warm milk and read uninteresting books. Sometimes I read newspaper till my eyes get tired. I also listen to slow songs to invite my mind to sleep. Or check my messages on my phone.

There are many things I do when I can't sleep at night. I will definitely choose to go online to check mails, write blog, browse through MyLot, browse through other online earning sites, if nothing interest me, then I will go offline. I will choose to play psp or find a book to read. Worse come to worse, I will just wake my husband up and force him to chat with me!

lately i have no trouble going to sleep but before, i have encountered situations when i cannot sleep. i have tried drinking milk to make me sleep but it does not help. like you, i do not want to read because if i find the book interesting, i will not sleep at all and just read it until morning, the last resort i do is to find something to cover my eyes and psych myself to sleep, sleep, sleep, then i fall asleep =)

Yes it is really ridiculous thing that when we want to sleep we are unable to sleep.
It has also happened with me few times.
In such a case I used to watch a movie or sit on Computer to do some productive work.
But sometimes my parents used to tell me to turn off the computer and in such case I have to lay on bed and play some games on my mobile.
Whenever I fell sleepy then I used to sleep.
