I was reading this article and couldn't believe to what extent we're coming. The airline will start charging for being overweight. I had read before that they will charge for using the toilet as well during a flight. What do you think about this? do you find it ridiculous or do you agree? This is the article: http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20090423/local/ryanair-mulls-tax-for-fat-people If you want you can vote here: http://www.ryanair.com/site/MT/news.php?yr=09&month=apr&story=gen-en-220409

I agree, because I'm thin. I also suggest the airlines to decrease charges for thin people...lol.

lol I'm thin too but I don't think they'll do that as you still take a seat. Actually I don;t think there are a lot of people, at least in our country, who are over that weight.

haha... very funny. I think they certainly would not do something like that.

I'm just wondering how long it will be before the airline has the living daylights sued out of them?? This is discrimination plain and simple. Why not charge extra tall ppl or extra short ppl or how about anyone wearing blue. It's stupid and I hope that if they pass this new charge that the ppl it would affect will refuse to use their airlines...they wouldn't make any money off them then. I think people will still use it since it offers cheap flights compared to our national airline so people might not mind paying a few extra charges given it will still be cheaper than its competitor.

Now, I have read and did a little research on this and all I can come up with is that when an airplane is built they guess the average weight of a person per seat in the plan. So, say if there are 100 seats and each contain the average weight for each seat then that is the amount the plane can carry along with the weight of the luggage and the other items they take on the flight. But, say you have 100 seats and 10 of them on the plane have ppl over the average weight by 100 pounds each then, question is will the plane be able to carry and maintain the flight with the fuel and the extra weight and all the other Items that it is already taking? Or, do you have plane trouble. That would be the same as an elevator or a car or any other machine that will transport people. Now, what I think the airlines should do is they have a section for first class, and second class. Well, why not a class with larger chairs or even wheel chair assessable. So, that why you can be a large person and sit in a seat that is comfortable for you. And, if you are in a wheelchair and you want to have it next to you it can be there. These are all things they might think about. Making everyone comfortable. And, still making it so that the engineers can do the math and make everyone safe. **Peace and Love gets you through everything in Life**

YOu're right. I think they should make bigger seats to be more comfortable for bigger people.

Hi dolphin, I'm already aware that some airlines charge for two seats for obeses passengers and I don't see a problem with this as they take the space up on the other side of them which someone else is having to pay for, thus supplementing the obese persons flight with their own money. I disagree that a differnt weight tax should be imposed for men and women, it should be equal. Charging for use of the toilet is just plain ridiculous though.

Yes I agree with you. I don't think our airline charges for that, not quite sure though but whenever I bought tickets I was never asked if I will occupy 2 seats neither at the airport or when buying tickets online. Now that we have foreign low cost airlines I can see why they do that since the prices are much lower.

absolutely.. this is truly ridiculuous. would there be a slab for the weight or is it that anybody more than this many kilos are charged extra at a fixed rate. whatever it may be its like categorizing people by their fat content. again for long trips, isnt it necessary to use toilet? or is it just a means to earn more money by the airlines? anyway its really disgusting and embarassing for fat people.

They are doing a poll right now for how to start charging, either if they exceed certain weight, or waist inches or body mass index. Have a nice day ;)
