Honest opinions about Nichole and the Subic rape case

I just learned from the news that Corporal Smith (the convicted rapist of Nichole) will be a free man. After the appeal, the higher court stated that he did not really raped Nichole and the evidence is not sufficient.
As we all know, Nichole is now in the US and released a statement lately that somehow contradict her previous testimony.
I must admit, I am not convinced right from the start that Nichole was really raped.
How about you? What is your honest opinion about this case?
No hurting words please.![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

there was a grudge feeling that this was just something that will lead to this. i am a guy too and you are a guy too we both know and feel that this is not a rape case. it is only a case of wanting to have a visa to go to the US. the painful part here Nicole is a Filipino and this hurt us all. thats the reason other nationality look at us as desperate people who want to go to america.

Just a little curious here. How could you say it's only for a visa for going to the USA? I mean hopefully I want a clearer explaination as to how could Nicole effectively get a visa for USA by suing Smith for the rape case? Am not either for any sides of them as I haven't viewed the whole thing before. Just curious w/ your comments.

read the member response at number three. that is true she dropped down the case when US people granded her a visa entry to the US so that is why my views was like that. if it was not for the visa then why should she drop the case after she got it. i pity all the people who helped her. they were all played for a fool

Very disappointed indeed. Just to gain favor for her to go to US she gave up her fight against this one American that raped her. Well I think that is a good ex-deal. Let just forget about what happened in exchange I will help you get to US. Good deal right. Even her lawyer seems pretty helpless in the situation as no one is now interested to hold on her case anymore because she herself has given up with the justice system.

[i]Hello fatherblogger,
I did not really paid much attention to this case before and my only knowledge about it are from the TV news. I don't really know what happened that night in the van but most of the time for rape case, the woman has the advantage about it. If she says she was raped, it is very hard to prove otherwise. I think I heard that there was already an offer to Nichole even when the case was being heard. After several years she might realized that justice was already served and she need to start a new life. Maybe a negotiation went under and a new agreement between the two party was reached. She took it and re-canted on what she said before. I guess the US and Philippine government where involved in these for each own benefit. As we all know that some sector of our society did not like the VFA agreement and this is one of the thorn hurting it. Now I think it was smoothen out a bit.

What's the nicole case about?? I think i have seen it somewhere on CNN, but i'm not sure if it's the same case?? Is it a really big case over something? hehe ^_^
Judging from all the above responses above me, it seems like most ple are agreeing that she's not being raped at all.. AND for what u have mentioned, her testimony is somehow contradicting, and that all the more proves that she's lying..
ANd since high court had pass down its verdict, and she's not happy, she can always appeal..

I think that I don't wanna hear anything about what Nicole or Nicole's family will say, they clearly may have been paid off, have agreed to an agreement with the other side. It is just sad really... Why fight the good fight back then? If they were gonna come around on their statements??
It's hardly worth taking about anymore...
And I hope that all news about this die down sooner...
