I have no water!!

I did get a note yesterday stating that we may experience water outages because they're changing our well house. But I wasn't sure when it would happen, and didn't think it would be so soon. I hadn't done my dishes yet, but I did start a load of laundry. I decided to do my work out early to get it out of the way. I finished my work out and the baby was whining for a drink. Well all of his cups are dirty, so I turn the faucet on to wash a cup, and no water!! ARG!! My laundry was half way through the cycle, so now I have wet clothes sitting in my washer. I stink from my work out, and my kitchen is full of dirty dishes. I need to get to the store before lunch time to pick up things for me and the boys to have for lunch... but I haven't showered. I was really hoping this outage wouldn't last too long or be this inconvenient! I hope the water is back on soon so I can finish my laundry, and wash my dishes. I'll have to go to the store dirty if the water isn't back on soon enough... but I have a school function to go to tonight and certainly do want to shower before that! Has your water ever been turned off at a really inconvenient time?

We have our own water supply so I thought we were immune from water cut offs at inconvenient times. However, in the winter we were completely caught by surprise when the entire pipe froze! Some time this summer we have to get around to buying the pipe.

I've had frozen pipes before too. That can easily be fixed with insulation. They sell some special insulation for water pipes, I think it's rather cheap too.

One time our water got turned off and hubby was in the bathroom at the time. I scooped all the dirty water out of the sink and he filled up the back of the toilet to flush. Then he went and had the water turned back on. Once I was up during the middle of the night and we had a water outage. Kind of freaked me out. I woke him up and he went down to our local gas station and used their water hose to get back up water for use in the toilet tank. And he bought tons of clean water. About two hours later they turned our water back on! Poor baby. All that work for nothing. But he's still my hero.

Sorry to hear about that. I know its really irritating to have no water and you haven't received any notice that it will happen. Just earlier someone told us that there will be no water tomorrow. I am glad to hear that from someone, if not i am sure it will be frustrating tomorrow without water. All household chores will be pending and we couldn't really do all the things that we need to be done.

In my country it is customary that Pipes needed some hard maintenance to keep them from leaking. it happens to our neighborhood here more often. So, we purchase more than 10 drums that has height of 5 feet just for reserves. when ever there's an announcement like that make sure you have / (if you don't then buy one) drums filled so that you could use some in emergencies. it's hard to have no water.

Sorry, but I had to laugh as this has happened so many times to me. We often get water outages and I need a new pump for my tank which I cannot yet afford so what I do is this. I have about 2 dozen gallon water bottles filled with water apart from the drinking water. If we get a water outage then I have water to cook with, bathe with and then someis put into toilet tanks for flushing. If someine has just weed then we don't flush - just use water for the big stuff. Soemtimes the water will go for days so I keep filling up the bottles at work for us to use. It is horrible and frustrating. I hope that ti did not last long

Most of the human body is water,if there is no water on Earth,it will dry up,if not water, will die, water is the source of all things, there is no water,it is difficult to imagine what will happen.Really terrible, like the author said, there is no water can't bathe, can't cook, can't do anything.

I am not sure of what type of work needs to be done with your well but it seems it would have been better if they did it early morning like around 2 or 3 because like you said its inconvenient and causing you stress. do you have a relative or friend who might let you use their water?

It always sucks to not have water. I certainly hope it has been turned back on by now considering you posted 3 hours ago. Good luck with your water and if worse comes to worse - ask a friend for use of their faucet to wet a washcloth?

That stinks. Hopefully it'll be on sooner than later. I'd maybe consider calling and asking how long you'd be out of water. If it's for longer than anticipated is there someone else you know not affected by this that you could shower at if you needed to? I have my own well but we also have a tempermental septic. So I feel the same delema as you when it rains except I have running water.

Well that really happens sometimes and even when you least expect it. Plus, even when you really really need water. My cousin who lived far away from us experienced that a lot when she was still working in the province. They always had water outages. So there were times that she would go to work without taking a shower. Talk about inconvenience.

yeah we had that kind of problem for so many times before. cause in the philippines. there was always shortage of clean water supply before. that they sometimes will cut our water supply without any warning. and so leaving our community without water unexpectedly. it was really terrible cause we have to wait for delivery truck to give us water. i had not get used to that. but now every thing is well. cause they have solve the problem with water supply. and we had this one month major repair in our city of the water supply connections or pipes. and so now we have good water supply now permanently. before we have to use water pumps to get the water inside our homes cause the water pressure was not too strong enough to get into the water pipes inside the house. those were the terrible times. thankfully now life has much been better since them. it was so terrible living back then. we have some decent some and some decent place to live in but no water. but that was before. because we have good water supply now. we don't use any more those two big drums we had used before to stock water for emergency use when water was cut short unannounced. hope you will have water soon.

Hey kats! Where I live our water is constantly being turned off at all sorts of inconvenient times without any warnings! And I usually have to go somewhere and don't know it's off until I go to run the water for my shower! And I also hate to go out with taking a shower first! So I do know exactly how you feel! I hope that your water will be turne back on before you have to go out this evening! And I hope that you will be able to get the dishes washed and the laundry done too! I guess if you have to go to the store that isn't the worst thing in the world, just a bit uncomfortable!

I am sorry to hear about your water shortage. It is awful when this happens. It is a big inconvience because you can't get anything done around the house that needs to be done. I hope it don't last long so you can get what you need to get done.

Hi there, unplesent things like this happen sometimes. It really makes us fell uncomfortable. We have to find ways to solve all of the problems. Without water we can not even brush our teeth. We have nothing to drink. I still remember when I was in the college. There was a long period of water shortage. That kind of life really drive me mad. So now I really try my best to save water when I can. Water is just so important to us.

Man, that would suck. I hate going out of the house when I have not had a shower or my hair is dirty. My son is famous for missing the bus when I really need to shower and I don't have time to before he has to be at school. I have not had my water off when I had anything important to do recently, but once my landlord did not pay the bill and I came home from work to no water.

Once in a while I get a note from the water company saying that the water will be cut. But they always stare in the note the day and the hour so I fill the bathtub (for bathroom cleaning), and fill every pot I have in the kitchen (for drinking water). I was at Orlando when the hurricane Charlie hit and we didnĀ“t have electricity for almost a day. I had water and had cooked everything I had in the fridge while I was seeing in the TV the approach of the hurricane. So nothing happened after all.

I'm sorry to hear about that, it seems being a housewife is not easy as you should do all house works. I have encounter the same trouble before, in one early morning when the whole family were in need of water to wash face, brush teeth, and cook breakfast etc. That's really an inconvenance to us. After that we decide to buy a large bucket to store water and several water jugs in case of a sudden water shortage. We don't want that kind of things happen again but have do preparation, good luck with our water supply.
