I know it isnt "officially" summertime yet on the calendar, and I can not wait for it to be summertime, that is my favorite season, and this year I will have fun with my soon to be 6 yr old son and my 18 month old daughter.... we have lots of plans for the beach... for picnics.... and of course enjoying our back yard after this long and horrible winter.....
Summertime reminds me of no school... hot days.... beach time with my friends, and hanging out with my boyfriend (husband now).... hot dogs on the bbq.... watermelon... and sun burns
what is summertime to you?

I think of Summer as hot hot hot. Trying to keep my Yard mowed. That is what I think of Summer now. In my younger days I went to the lake, crusing around and getting to puts shorts on and getting rid of all the sweaters and coats.

That's about what I think of when I think of summer, too! Hot, hot, hot! It gets very hot here in alabama. We've had a lot of rain and storms here lately. About July, we'll be having a drought and we'll be wishing for some rain. We used to spend time at the lake in the summer when I was a child, going swimming, boat riding, fishing, etc. Kathy.

Summertime to me is swimming, vacations, riding horseback (I don't ride in 90 degree weather though), watermelon, cantaloupe, picnics, hearing the sound of a lawn mower, walking outside, lemonade, drinking lots of water. I mentioned vacations. However, I don't do that much traveling any more. I can't afford it. This was one of the things I always looked forward to as a child, though. As a child, I also looked forward to wearing shorts in the summer. It seems like about the only time we(my family and I) drank iced tea was in the summer. Now, I drink it just about anytime I want to, lol. Kathy.

I'm glad you liked my post.
I really do like your picture. It's very pretty! do you live in the midwest or out west? That's what it reminds me of. I live in Alabama but I love the western part of the united states. I've been out that way at least five times in my life. It also reminds me of "Little House On The Prairie". It looks like the flowers they show when the program first comes on. Happy mylotting! Kathy.

Most of all, summer means to me the time of year when I finally get things done...
During college days there is absolutely no time.
During the summer I usually head for field activities, by that meaning fossil searching and excavating.
Summer also means some peaceful time with my family and with my garden. Considering the last few seasons have had really hot summers, Watering my vegetables took me some time. This year my folks bought a water pump so I don't have to to it all manually any more.

Summer vacation used to be fun when I was a kid but no more. Now, the climate here has changed to unbearable. With so much heat and sweat here, its difficult to travel or go outdoor. The past two days have been terrible with heat was killing many. Still, the kids await this. They get a chance to do their mind and i wish you luck with your vacation. I guess, you are having a nice bright summer after wintry bouts.
Have a blast.

I like summer instead of loving it. In summer, the sun usually shine brightly and the weather is good. But sometimes it's so hot that i just want to stay in house with air conditioner turned on. if i feel cold, i can put on more clothes. But if the temperature is hot enough, what can you do? But there are no perfect things in the world. I just have to bear it.

I understand what you are saying, some have a harder time dealing with the heat... but we will play in the sprinkler...or the kiddie pool... we dont have a/c just a window unit, but that is perfect for helping us sleep.
I hope you get to enjoy it a little bit!! thanks for responding.

Summer time means a lot to me. Especially this summer! To start off, summer is my favorite season. I love the hot summer days. I love going out for drives. I love going to baseball games. I love going on a summer vacation to the beach. I love eating ice cream on those hot days. I also love going to festivals and fairs. I love the thunderstorms. I love everything about summer!
This summer is particularly special to me because I am getting married. I will be getting married this June and then going on my honeymoon. June will be a very special month for me and therefore it'll also be a very special summer for me! I can't wait. I LOVE SUMMER! Especially summer 09.

For me, summer starts on or around May 1st. Of course, in the UK, weather is still very variable and we can still have a frost well into May (I remember snow on June 1st one year ... but that was on the Monday and by Saturday we had glorious shirtsleeve weather!
Blossom time (which seems to me to continue from spring into the beginning of summer) is in full swing here. I suppose that I feel that summer has begun when the plum, pear, cherry and apple trees bloom and the meadows are full of dandelions and buttercups but I don't believe there is any one day when one can say 'yesterday was spring; today is summer' ... spring lingers on (and so, sometimes, does winter, just when we were expecting summer!)

Summer is 75 and above temperature, it's sweat, and the outdoors, and growing things. It's sleeping under the stars. It's when ice cream brings relief instead of just simple enjoyment. It's the season I was born in. It's flea markets and work, it's...
Summer is alot of things to me. Strangely enough, spring wants to jump right into summerish, around here, which almost makes me sad, because I really like the spring and this spring has struggled to be the spring at all this year around these parts-- though since this is more than's happened for the last two years, I shant complain. ^_^'

Summertime for me is the time for unwinding. I usually go travel with my family or being alone. Bohol is the usual place we visit for vacation. It is also the time to spend quality time to your loved ones. Through all the hectic schedules in work, your free time should be spend to your family.

I can understand that some dont care for the heat, but I seem to handle it well...especially when I was a kid and in my early 20s.... I never seem to notice it... I am still good with it but then we have a window air unit for nights when it get so hot so its perfect to sleep....

to me summertime equals fun. i love it when i wake up in the morning and the temperature is already in the 70's. when i was in college i often took summer classes but even that was fun. i didn't have to go in like until 10am or so and be done by lunch time, and didn't have to study that much. oh and best of all, i wouldn't have to wear shoes (yeah, i hate shoes!). when summer school was over we still had a few weeks left before fall semester started so i would go on vacation with friends and have a swell time. it's already warm where i am now so i'm already enjoying summer!

In a tropical country I live in, summer equals school vacation, and time for fiestas and homecoming of townspeople who have been living in different parts of the country, and the world. It's a time also for family reunions (to take advantage of the presence of relatives who could go home only on those days)....Outings to the beaches, or the farms. Lots of flowers blooming and fruits in season...
I had been wondering if summer in temperate countries could be as hot(and humid) as ours?

oh I think it could get very humid here in the states during our summers, especially down in the southern states...we will get very humid here too in the Midwest, hot and humid.
but summer vacation is always something to look forward to, especially when you get with family and friends and just enjoy each other!!
