Are you more emotional before and during the monthly period?

I have noticed I'm easy to get grumpy before the period, during the period, I'm fine and normal. But I just feel grumpy, uncomfortable, sore body within the week before it comes. How do you mentally and physically feel before and during the period? Do you get grumpy easy during that? Guys are lucky that they don't need to suffer from that... it is hard to explain to the guys how painful it is and sometimes when you say stuff about it, they act like it is the most gross, nasty thing in the whole entire world... I don't feel good about that... What do you thikn about this?

Hi, mermaidivy! Yes, I do get emotional before and during my monthly period. I curse more and my temper is very short. I am moody that is for sure. And I can't stand to be contradicted. That is what pulls my nerves the most! I feel very tired and lazy. I feel fatter and bigger. And like I don't want to be bothered by anyone that does not interest me at all. Most of the time, my lower back will ache and I will want to lay down more than I am sitting up.

During my period, I got irritated because I feel comfortable. There are times my thigh and tummy hurts even my back bone. And my temperature is cold. But that is only on the first day, I can adjust on the second day of period. Some of us change moods because of irritability all we need is understanding because is never easy what we are going through.

ya.. i have such big PMS that i don't recognize myself during this days. my emotional level will go into over drive just before starting my period and i am likely to be hot tempered and any small things will hurt me. i do gets achy but no painful experiences for me here, just a little uncomfortable physically. whenever i am emotional/ aching to picks up a fight, my bf will usually inquire whether i am having my period and now he always jokes and pull my legs saying that he has also got period. Funny man, but i expects man to be sympathetic to a woman's monthly period after all its a natural process. Regarding food, i do gets hungry and have a taste for sweet stuffs before my period but during/after my period, i am usually not hungry at all. And after it goes, i usually feels like I can take the whole world single-handed and I feel so feminine!huh!

I get irritated easily a week before and after my period. Sometimes I also experience menstrual cramps and heck it's really uncomfortable. I think it's just normal for us girls to experience this PMS as what they call it because of hormonal changes/imbalance in our body. Most of the boys though not all tend to overreact on this matter because they aren't the one who is going through such things and I agree with you. I don't also feel good when they(boys) react as if it's the most disgusting thing in this world. How I wish that boys also menstruate! haha!

I feel the same way my whole lower body hurts my back and everything. Iam also very moody before mostly i get in fits of rage!! My boyfriend is so sweet he will rub my back for hours go to the store and get evrything i need or want. My boyfriend never acts disgusted or anything i know he has empathy for me definately!! I dont think its very fair of guys to say anything about it if they cant say anything sympathetic. Guys dont understand the pain and hell we go through but there is plenty that will feel for us in what we go through every month!!

Not really emotional but i am kinda moody before my period like 3 days before my period. I don't really understand why but its pretty normal to woman. I tried hard to control my moodiness and being irritable sometimes. Its the changes really but the moment my period arrived, i felt relief and feel good. I am just lucky i don't have that pain on my abdomen every time my period comes.

I actually don't usually have any mood fluctuations before, during, or after mine. OCCASIONALLY I'll have intense pain in my abdomen before, and occasionally during, but this isn't very common. ...maybe I'm lucky/weird? ...just don't tell me I'm a liar, 'cause I hate it when people say that xD

I'm weird. I get angry about 5 days before my period comes, and I'm SO easily upset by just about every little thing pepole do. It's like I get 10x more irritated by everything a couple of days before my period, than I would any other day. It's bizarre, actually. I ESPECIALLY get road rage! But on my period, I'm actually happy as can be (except for when I'm cramping and in pain, but that's pretty rare). I feel physically better during my period than before it, and I'm actually a lot nicer than usual. . It's kind of backwards, actually.

Hi Mermaidivy, I feel grumpy few days before the period. I just easy to get angry on little things. I only get angry on my boyfriend, i don't get angry on my friends. And i feel lazy about work, i don't want to talk much during the first and second day. I get back to normal after the period. Physically i am fine, mentally i am easy to get grumpy. Yeah, that's why i want to become a man in my next life. lol

Hello mermaidivy, I used to feel awkward before the time comes. Even my husband can notice that. I can get irritated easily and always try to find fault. When my husband realizes that I am more prone to get angry over a small matter, he won't argue with me as he knows pretty well that the time has come!

My mood swings aren't really that regular, so there's really no set pattern for me. Usually I'm fine during the month, but the week of my period I tend to be a bit more grumpy and unreasonable. I also have abdominal pains a few days before it starts (that's how I know it's starting soon), and usually the first 24 hours I can't get by without a Tylenol, it really hurts. It's usually better after a while, and at least my boyfriend knows not to irritate me when I have my period. He's quite good for a guy, he totally understands and doesn't bug me when I have it. I think it's different for everyone though, my sister is grumpy almost all of the time, whether or not she has her period, and hers never hurts like mine do.

You can say that again, i do also feel grumpy when my period is coming or when the red flag is up. Hubby is cautious not to joke on me too much since i will really feel easily irritated. I think it is really part of us, that once a month we get this uncomfortable feeling. Very choosy, very emotional, it's really part of us as a woman. Sometimes i do get more sensitive when it is soon to come. But i feel much more frustrated now since i wanted to have a baby and i am still waiting for my period not to show up although it does , regularly even if i don't need a calendar, my period will tell me, it's TIME!

I am more emotional before than during. I am so glad to start I can not help myself. I can not even stand my own self before my cycle. My nerves are so very bad it makes my brain hurt. My nerves feel like shattered crystal.

I do too sometimes... plus the stress...
23 Apr 09
I have good months and bad - occasionally I feel like I'm barely affected by it, but it's more common for me to get quite bad PMS, i get pretty emotional. I also suffer from very 'heavy' feeling legs and tummy, not so much pain before but acheyness. It's certainly no fun! Luckily my OH doesnt get to 'ick' about it, and he's generally very sympathetic when I tell him I am feeling bad due to it!
