Baby girl or Baby boy

India

My sister in law had given a birth to little baby girl today. They seems to be happy after all this is their first child. Every family especially in India doesn't please after birth of a baby girl in their family. They feel a girl will be burden for them and a boy will be handful to them in their old age. One way they compare a girl with goddess "Devi Lakshmi" and they other way they don't please when she comes to their home. My question is if a given choice what would you prefer your kid a boy or a girl ? I have seen in lots of cases a girl takes good care of parents than a boy.

when i was still single, i wanted to have a baby girl first... and it happened, my eldest is a girl. here in my country, most couples (moms especially) wants a girl as their first child, as girls tends to be the ones helping on the household chores, and caring for parents when they get old. but acting like not pleased just because the eldest is a girl is kind of discriminating the baby... well i hope there would be some change in your place with regards to that. congratulations to your sis-in-law for having a new baby. hope she grows well and healthy.

I personally think that should not be any discrimination between a boy kid and a girl kid. Being an Indian I know that always preference is given to the boy kid. But there should not be any discrimination. A child should be treated as a child a child only. Because human being have no control over type of the baby. According to me a your girl can also take care of you. Now a days girls are also becoming independent so they can easily take care of her parent in old age. Even some boys do not trite their parents well in their old age. So there is no point in giving preference to boy kid or girl kid. We should let it in the hands of god.

Frankly, I don't care whether I would have a baby girl or boy. I just care whether my baby is healthy or not. I don't care about the gender. I like both of them. In fact I didn't know whether I would have a boy or girl when I was pregnant. It was like a surprise to me when my baby was born. I love China

I would love a cute little baby girl as I have already one child a boy. When my wife was pregnant for my first child we prayed for a girl but our prayers were not accepted. If I have given wish to completed I would want a girl 100%.

to me it does not matter. the only reason people what to have boys more in these places is becouse its hard from girls to get jobs. girls normaily stay at home, not many really go to school. they are digging a hole foe themselfs really. men are the ones who get the jobs and pay for the family and they parents family when they are old.

I personally would just want a healthy baby. In many cultures, though, they still follow very old traditions. Alot of cultures do prefer boys for many various reasons. I just see children as miracles, so I personally don't have a preference.

Personally speaking.I want to have two baby, the first one should be a boy, and the second one should be a girl. Then the elder brother can take care of the younger sister. And I think having two children in a house can make their life more happy. They won't feel lonely. For myself,I don't care about my kid is a boy or a girl. Some people in traditional country like India and China don't like girls. They think only boy can raise them when they are old.But nowadays, most people in my country have change this stupid point. They also love girls now.Just as you said, grils can take good care of their parents now.
