How many of you use FreeCreditReport.com? I love the commercials. The songs are quite catchy and we often find ourselves singing along with the commercials. Have you used FreeCreditReport.com? Have you found that it has helped you to improve your credit score?

FreeCreditReport.com is anything but free, but if you go to their homepage they include a link to the TRUE free reporting agencies. By law each credit reporting agency must allow you one free credit report per year. Also if you are denied credit, you can ask for a free credit report within 60 days of the denial. Paying the FreeCreditReport.com company to monitor your credit is a waste of money IMO.

After looking through the site, I found that it is NOT FREE! You are right. You have to pay a monthly service fee to get all 3 reports. Plus there are other things that they offer free on there that really aren't free as you scroll through multiple pages. But you have to admit that the commercials are catchy! Right?

I signed up with freecreditreport.com last week because I had no idea what my credit score was. It was not as bad as I thought it might be. I don't really plan on keeping it though. I don't really have the $14.95 a month to keep looking at it for right now

The good thing about paying for that site is that you can check your credit at any time. For people that are looking to improve or monitor their credit for purchasing reasons (house, car, loans) they can see what their credit report immediately. My best friend doesn't mind spending that money because she feels it helps her keep her credit in check. She wasn't the best with money and made many poor decisions in buying when she was younger. Now she can see exactly what is effecting her credit and make the appropriate actions.
