Do you think small, medium and large have gotten larger? I just ordered a jacket over the internet and I ordered it the same size as the old one and I swear it's one size larger. This was for my husband. Are the companies making them bigger because of so many people being over weight?

Even I have noticed this thing. Earlier with the same built as today, the size M used to be a perfect fit for me, sometimes L being the best one. But these days I have been noticing that even the M size cloths fit loose on me! Just like you even I wonder if there has been a change in the sizes!

Then one problem added in your country. That is over weight.People are getting over weight. It's better to buy cloths directly from a shop.Sometimes you will not get the same thing which you want on internet order.

it's been happening for many years with womens dress sizes. shops think that if you fit in a 12 in their shop and are a 14 in others, you will be more likely to shop with them, even if it doesn't change your actual physical dimensions. and some people are that shallow. on the high streets, I'm anything from UK 6-14, depending on the fit and shape of a garment. in vintage sizings, so, clothes using 40s or 50s patterns, I'm a 14. because of all the shops messing the sizes about, dress sizes are now meaningless, not like it used to be when each size had a corresponding set of measurements, so you knew what would fit you.

Hey pat! I don't think that companies are making the sizes larger these days. I think it depends on the company itself. Maybe they mismarked it? I doubt that a company is using more material then they have to with the economy the way it is. In fact I do know with womens clothes they charge you extra if you buy extra large sizes!

As a matter of fact I think they are larger. I am the same size as I was years ago and these days I wear an Australian size 8. I never used to fit an 8 years ago and I assure I have not had a major weight loss! I cannot buy jeans in Target because the size 10 which I used to wear in the past is just too big these days. It's interesting you commented on this; I thought it was just my imagination or my body shape had radically changed!

It all depends on who you are ordering or buying clothes from. I go to one store and get a 14 and go to another and the 14 fits like a 12, but I have ordered things for my kids and they were bigger, but clothes seem to be smaller. The media just need to come out and tell the truth on issues. Being a 0 is not healthy for everyone. It depends on your bone structure. Alot of people are overweight because of the stress of trying to lose weight. O my bad. I think some companies are making their clothing bigger and some are making them smaller it all depends on what type of fabric or their clothing processing is done. :)

I think the jacket you ordered must be a rarity. I think things are actually going smaller. My kids clothes for example my 6yo is maybe 40lbs when wet and she's wearing some shirts as big as a 10/12 otherwise they are so stuck on her she'd outgrown them after they'd hit the dryer. I've noticed @ WM they've resized their clothes too. What were once say an XL is now a XXL or XXXL... and I have no idea how a 16 is a 2X!

I have somewhat noticed that sizes are changing. I went into Oldnavy and thought the large was just very wide for the boyfriend and he has to wear a large because hes tall and the mediums are just not long enough. I didn't even buy the shirts because i was not going to have him look bigger than what he is, we don't want the skinny people looking big now either. Sometimes when i hold up a shirt to myself i think this is really wide to be a small and then i usually put it back on the shelf or hang it back up because i am not that wide and i need the skinny shirts they make now a days and i am really glad that walmart sells them to.
