Actually, when I want someone to be stop talking to me I don't have to say anything. The way I go about it is basically to stop talking and acknowledging what they are telling me. People who know me are quite aware that when that happens, I have no interest in talking to them any longer and the conversation ends. I realize that this might be a little harsh; nonetheless, it is the best way to avoid saying things that we might regret later on.

I know what you are saying works ... Amazingly you will find that most of the people dont even understand we have told them to shut up in very easy way...hahha

Very true, LOL! Best defense is not to offend, as it is often said. Cheers!

I usually say something like:
Please stop it.
Could you not?
It's kind of awkward regardless how you say it though. I don't think it's mean, but rude, yes. Oh well, it has to be done!

hehe......nice question........
well most of the time i try to take as much as i can take....i respond to them as well....it depends again as to what extent i will answer......at one point, I will totally stop answering and will totally and completely avoid that person......let him have his say.....if hes wise enough he will get the vibes and shut up on his own.....and if hes not and still continues yapping......then I believe its time to use your vocal chords and say....I gotta go..catchya la8er.....as you don't want to offend the other person.....if he still hangs on then its time you say "shut up"....thanks for the discussion :)

I dunno if this would make them feel bad or not but my 6yo was taught the saying of "I don't like what you are doing and I want you to stop" in school to say tward anyone that's doing something "wrong".
I like to flip it around on her and say "I don't like what you said and I'd like you to stop" boy that gets her in a tizzy.

haha I like this one,, just saying "SHUT IT" is extremely rude and thats not who i am so what i do is start talking about myself so all they gotta do is LISTEN something iv been doing for the past hour or so. And when im finished i say i have to get off and go. They dont have the slightest clue that they are so boring.
