I really can't take this anymore.
Next month (May), the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) can raise their rates by 25 centavos to P1.22 per kilowatthour (kWh). This was already approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

I have been trying since January this year to cut down on my electric usage. And now, this! Gosh! Even the cooled down weather can't dissipate my anger. I felt like the rain trickled to an open wire in the house and electrified us all.
Guys, my electricity consumption ranges from 150-180 kwh per month. The additional charge means less food for my family and to lot of others out there. However, the rich Meralco owners don't care. The company gained good profit last year in spite of all the controversies it got into and these moves will surely earn them more. (Read the related news about this. Here's the link: http://www.gmanews.tv/story/158291/Meralco-shares-to-rise-with-approval-of-new-rate-formula.) IS THERE A JUSTICE IN THIS RATE INCREASE?

No.
If you want to save on some kwh, try unplugging all of your electronic equipment before going to bed. Even turned off some equipment still draws power. Keep everything you aren't using regularly unplugged. It may keep your bills down.

We also shock when we received the meralco bill this month our electric consumption is higher than before. I know that it is normal that electricity consumption goes up during this summer but why they also increase their rates? It is a burden for us we can no longer pay for other expenses. If only we have other choice sad to say Meralco is the only one who provides us electricity. I heard that they is a refund this May but it is no effect because they also increase rates again.

It also came as a shock to me... since our office electricity bill increased by almost 100% and i have yet to see my own apartment electricity bill... which i am sure also skyrocketed because we started using the aircontion every night since it can be very hot and difficult to sleep...
So with this... i guess we need to tighten out belts more... or else... all our earning will just go to paying our utility bills...
