There has been plans to monitor internet users and discussions about using real names when giving out comments in internet sites.
Advocates say, this will prevent people from writing malicious comments and avoid cases of defamation.
Others oppose this as it would curtail freedom of expression.
What is your view on this? Are you willing to write comments on the internet and have your real name on?

This is practicall impossible, since with million and trillions of Internet users, it will be impossible to distinguish between people with same name.
As of now, they still can find who wrote a particular thing by means of their ID's they chose and the information given while registration. Apart from this, even the User IP address can also be traced and a person can easily be identified.

As for me, I absolutely have no problem in giving my real name. In fact this user name (amitksing) is in fact my name only (Amit Kumar Singh).

Hi,nympha687
I don't want to using real names on the Internet because that will makes me feel uncomfortable. As we all know, the Internet brings us a platform to express ourselves freely, and if we need to use our real names, then how about the freedom?I admit that some people acts badly on the Internet, but they are just the minority. Most of people obey rules on the Internet,so it is not good to limit the freedom by using real names
Have a nice day!

Yes .. I agree with the plan, because at this time the internet is often used as a means of crime, and I think does not conflict with freedom of expression ..it is people who hide their identity is a person who currish ... want to comment but did not want to be responsible

I will always use my real name in the internet. If anybody want to give us some bad comment thay still can do it even we have use a nickname. So, as long as i post something that is true and do make any disadvantades to the other, i will not scare to use my real name. On the other hand, i think that the other will more trust me if i dare to use my real name.

It is good thing because this may also prevent many other troubles which we may face due to fake details.
I think it should be more restricted that those want to access internet there should be a unique session for that user which tracks that particular IP Address and user details so that it will be difficult for other users misuse internet.
I think it is difficult thing to implement but it is not impossible.

Since the net occurs virtually and hence I guess it's better be of two options for us to use both real or virtual names. For this point of view, I get myself like a twister. The critical for us is how to make use of the limitation, so I suggest we focus on the advantages and disadvantages of using real name or not. Personally I think real name is good but after thinking I am puzzled for the right of privacy. We do have the right of privacy, right? But how we face and handle with those malicious comments anyway? Tough to choose. Maybe there're different solution in different situations. So experts on that should be ready. For me now, real name and virtual name are varying according to safety of myself, say information. So now I'm just standing in-between. Just let me grow older, and then I'll choose one.

I agree with using real names. Too many take advantage of being somewhat anonymous, hiding behind being unknown to slam others.
When I read things from people that won't show who they are I just take that with a grain of salt. I don't tend to believe people that hide their identity. Too many opportunities to say things that aren't exactly true without being taking to task for stretching the truth or just plain lying about things.
I have seen it here many times.

It's a choice for people. If they are sure expressing their feelings, which will have more effect when attached with their names, then they have all the liberty to use it. It's our name and we would like to use it whenever and wherever possible. So I do not think that a person should be restricted from using their names. Although one has to be sure where they use their names. There are always chances that they can be used for malicious things as you mentioned, but it's not always the same case. The one using the name has to be careful on their part. Another solution would be to use a pseudonym or a pen name. This would reduce all chances of being misused.

Using real names have some disadvantages, either you are copied or framed by some one posing as you and probably destroying your reputation. unless nobody knows you and that person prefer to copy you as an amusement. but for me, i won't reveal myself, nor my real name because it's risky..

I think our anonymity on the internet is a good thing. And besides, if they really want to - the government could find ways of finding "anonymous" users ANYWAY - such as by searching for their I.P. addresses, watching security footage of public computers, and so on. And besides? It's not like these people are committing crimes, they're just expressing themselves anonymously.

It depends on what to do with my real name in the internet. If real names are used to response a thread or comment on others reply on a website like mylot,i don't think it will make me retreat, but it does make me hesitate at some of the topics.

I do not think that using real name in internet can create a problem. If you have not done any thing wrong then you should not be afraid of some thing. In internet the name does not matter. If you have done some thing wrong or illegal thing on the net then they will trace you down by your IP address. Because you can change your name whenever you want to but can not clear the IP from the log of your internet service provider. So it does not matter whether you use real or fake name ober internet.

Though it is not possible to ensure using real name in the internet sites of the users . The suing has some advantages and problems. But it should be used the real name or convenience name according to the users. But we all should avoid malicious comments or writings. I am intended to write my real name.

I think regardless of whether you use your real name or not, people can still write malicious comments over the Internet. For me, it wouldn't really bother me if I'm required to use my real name on discussions. I guess as long as you are a responsible poster you won't have to be concerned about revealing your identity. But that's just me.

I don't want to use my real name to comment on something. After all, most people write on the Internet for their interest or true communication of inner minds with others. They don't have some evil intentions of ruyining other's fames. On the internet, people can freely talk about or discuss everything they can't in real life. Just like a person confessing his sins in the church, sometimes people need an open and secret place to let their minds free without others knowing. Internet provides such a good place without a real name on it. I hope we can still discuss everything under the vein of false names.
