Has anyone else seen the tour of Spring Awakening yet?
I saw it earlier this week in Providence, and was blown away. After seeing the Broadway production 7 times, I was worried it would get stale for me.
I quickly learned that is IMPOSSIBLE with this particular cast. The touring cast is far better than the last Broadway cast I saw. They have such amazing chemistry, talent, and emotion. I've never seen so many tears on one stage in my life.
The show itself is incredible, during it's Broadway run it earned 8 Tony Awards (including one for Best Musical!), a Grammy, and numerous other awards. It combines a classic coming-of-age story set in 1890s Germany, with an angsty-teen folk/rock score. All the music was composed by 1990s hitmaker Ducnan Sheik. So you can't go wrong.
The show is in Providence all week, and then Boston for the next monnth. It's going to continue making its way down the east coast for the next couple months.
I'm dying to know what others have thought of the show and this cast in particular.

Last year, the tour came to my city. I wanted to see the show after witnessing the performance at the Tony Awards and Youtube. But I decided to skip it because of its content.
Then I later viewed the entire Off-Broadway Production and a Broadway Production (starring Lea Michelle, Jonathan Goff and, John Gallgaher). Now I really regret missing the tour.
The musical score is just beautiful. Unlike other shows, the lyrics are profound and not straightforward, yet we understand and empathize what's going on.
