I moved about 50 miles from my home town, not too far right? When I was younger (and - the husband and kids), I would think that was nothing to drive for a friend. Nowadaysm things are busy and I really don't see my old friends... They have kids and busy jobs and I never see them. I stay at home with my youngest and have tried to make friends at the park and around town. I have had great conversations with many women with children my sons age about getting together for a playdate or to have each other over for dinner. Sometimes we have, but we always seem to just get busy again and not see each other for weeks.
Does is become harder when we are pulled in many directions to not have time for friends? It's like, we have lunch here or there, but there is not a real friendship. I am guilty too of not always following up soon when talking about a plan...

you know this is a regular complaint of most people today, including myself i wonder if its because things are much more fast paced today? or because we can be lazy and have lots more entertainment in our homes. like we no longer play card and boardgames with people physically, we go online and do all that. hhhmmm?

You know, you do have something... I am the one wanting to make friends and be more active, but I stay at home right now. My friends have jobs and a family, it makes sense that they don't have time for me. It is easy to stay have home and jump online and I do that quite often (especially in winter!). Little money is another reason to stay home..

That is how we chose our life to be. Everything you said is nothing but reality. We are forgetting the real meaning of life. We are just materialistic. And yes it is difficult to make freinds when you are an adult. Reason- We have lost our innocence. We are all so matured and we all understand the need of hour so better that we dont have time for anything all except to earn, name, fame, wealth and the list is endless.
But we truly are missing the real charm of life.
