The number one thing I find irritating about allegedly "scary" movies is the manipulation they do by sound. They make an intense scene where nothing is happening, and it is silent, then a shadow moves in the background in combination to loud "BANG" of music. A shadow moving in the background is not scary, and getting people to jump at a loud sound made with violins and woodwinds (possibly brass as well, I'm not an expert in that field) - it is such a cheap trick.

I don't think very many scary movies are actually scary anymore, it is more just blood and guts and violence than jump out of your skin get your heart racing fear inducing. I think maybe the movies coming out just lack originality and creativity. They all seem very predictable.

As much as I'm all for blood and gore..I have to say that so called horror movies of today and the past several yrs actually really SUCK!....i personally blame it on the money hungry movie makers who've decided to rate them all PG 13 so that they can have a larger audience and rake in more money....I still love horror movies mind you but I NEVER expect them to scare me these days..Of course having a movie scare me is pretty hard regardless since I'm such a twisted individual LOL

Horror movies doesn't scare me at all but I still enjoy them . Only 2 that managed to scare me were The Ring and Blair Witch Project when I saw them for the first time.

Same here, I don't find them scary anymore. Especially ones that Hollywood took over and remade from the original thing. Like there's too much dialog for the hollywood version of shutter compared to the Thai version of it. As a youngling I was never afraid of scary movies but I had a good thrill watching it and laughing at the other people who were afraid of the stuff. The exorcist was a classic. It had scared most people back in the day and gave some heart attacks. There were some believers who strongly believed the devil was real and that movie got to them pretty good. I play with ouija boards and nothing bad has happened to me and stuff. But yeah as far as I know, people need to start making movies as great as the exorcist. Ju-on 2 in my opinion was better than the english version the grudge 2. since everytime there's just too much dialog with the english one in the beginning where it kind of bores me.

I also prefer the old horror movies. I remember Rosemary´s baby, Psychosis, the birds and other movies by Hitchcock. Those were very good. Noew they are all about ketchut and a bad plot bull of gory scenes and a pityfull ending

I don't watch very many scary movies so when I see one I more terrified (well terrified may be a bit much) than the movie goer who see's them quite often. My daughter and son in law are into the scary movies so to them they are actually quite funny. I'm glad that if I want to see a scary movie I am actually scared.
