Does God need or does not need to follow the law?

Now, the common assumption is that God is beyond the law, he is absolutely free to do anything without fear of consequences. As for us, we are to follow God's laws like meek sheep or else.. be damned. However,if God is to set a good example for his children, then he has to follow the law which he has given for humans to follow. Since children tend to imitate their parents, God our father has to be very careful in his speech and actions. If God kills people because they disobeyed him or worshipped some other God or made fun of a prophet, then how are humans expected to not kill each other, respect each other? God may be the giver of life. But if God expects his creation to follow his commandment, then he also has to follow the commandment. Should he not set a good example? If God cannot inspire people through his love, forgiveness etc.. then who can?

Actually G'd did form a covenant with the Jewish People and there are things that both sides have agreed to do. So you can say, that G'd does have some laws that He follows. You have to remember that the folks that G'd killed were in defense of His people, which does follow the 10 commandments when you read the proper translation of Thou shalt not Murder instead of "kill". If it stood at "kill" Then every person that fought a war would be breaking that law, and every person that defended themselves when they were being attacked by someone with a lethal weapon would also be breaking that commandment. Get real. G'd no longer gets involved in this world. He no longer assists His people because they have evolved to the point where they can take care of themselves. The covenant still exists and someday the Messiah will come and fullfil the rest of the covenant. Until then, the Creator just watches without intervention. Shalom~Adoniah

"The Law" was given as a tutor to bring us to Christ. (Galations 3). It was so we could become familiar with God's character. He is love. He automatically follows the Law. He is also the giver of life.. and does not "murder" innocent people for no reason. He expects us to do the same. Killing in the time of war is not "murder" as forbidden by the Law. He cannot help but follow the Law as it is molded from His own character.

Well first off, God has never made a law, and never will. There are some natural laws of life that we may do well to follow. You reap what you sow, love others as you want them to love you, and what goes around comes around, etc. These are not laws as much as they are common sense. Gods so-called Laws were all man-made. Moses and friends composed the 10 Commandments. In this case Moses needed a guide for his people in the wilderness, and it worked quite well. God has it all set up so that no matter what we do on Earth, nothing matters, as we will reincarnate and come back to live another Earth life. If we didn't get it right in this Life, there are plenty more lives coming right up. The Devil, Hell and Purgatory, are Fairy Tales made up by the Church to frighten it's Parishioners into buying their way out of sin and into heaven and thereby enriching Church Coffers. What a Great Scam that is!

I don't know where you got the idea that God must lead by example but it doesn't work that way. In fact, it didn't work that way with humans many moons ago either. You did what your father told you to do or you were punished...none of this "set a good example" entered into a father's mind back then. But, these days everyone is so coddled...everyone has to be so SENsative to everyone else and everyone has to lead by example. When my kids were growing up I had rules and they obeyed those rules or they were punished. I was their parent and they did not question me.
