Are we created in the image and likeness of God? So, we are like God?

If it is true that God created man in his image and likeness, then that very moment- man became God. Image and likeness of God- means man is perfect, almighty and omniscient- just like God. Nothing more, nothing less.
Since we are like God, then God cannot have any authority over us, he cannot judge us because we are powerful, almighty. We are beyond any jugement. We can do anything we like.
Nobody can question our wisdom because we are like God. Who can question the wisdom of God. We can even kill people just as God did in the Bible- we are beyond jusgement. We are beyond law. Because we are God. Did he not create us in his image and likeness?

A child is the likeness of its parents. Is that child its own parent?

It is true that we were created in the image of God.. but what does image really mean? It does not mean that we are actually Gods. We are a creation of God, but not God Himself. God is the artist and we are his art. An artist creates different images, different shapes which symbolize something about the artist. Every famous artist has his own purpose for the drawing he draws, but the viewer can't see that purpose, he can only guess. The same way God made us in his own way, different creatures, animals, plants, humans of different colours, shapes and looks.. These all present something about God, they carry a message about the great artist. When you look at a beautiful rose, and smell its nice fragrance. It paints a picture in your mind that the creator of this beautiful flower must be beautiful too. You eat the different kinds of sweet fruits. Such variety of different sweetness'. You can pick from an apple, orange, banana, water melon, etc. You have so many choices. These are all images of God. Image means creation, everything that is on the universe has some image of God hidden within. Us humans are able to think about God, and praise him for everything He has given us. We have been given certain qualities that God presents Himself as like love, compassion, justice, mercy, and forgiveness. All these are good characters and we hold them to some degree.. There's one thing that holds us back and turns us away from these attributes which is choice. With choice comes an oppisite pole. The dark part of life. God is light and nothing but life. But if you cover up the light, you have darkness, and that is what you see in the world today. Absence of good and light. Absence of God!

So, we are photographs of God?
AS far as I know, photographs do not have life.

I was merely pointing out that an 'image' or a 'likeness' are NOT the same as the thing that they are an image or a likeness of. Even identical twins (who, biologically speaking are two identical organisms, having come from a single egg and a single sperm) are separate people with separate lives.

I believe He was referring to our souls not our whole being. We do not have the power to create a Universe do we? I have never seen a Human create anything like a planet or a solar system or even something as cool as an atom.
We do have the power to do evil and man seems to relish in this. It is a shame. Man can do good, but he is not equal to The Almighty because he does evil out of pure greed and selfishness.

An image and a likeness is not the same as the real thing so, no, we are not God simply because he created us in His image. An image also has no power of it's own...it is what it is. We are all bound by the laws of our religion and of our societies so none of us arer beyond being judged.

Hi spalladino, you are so right, we are bound by the laws of our religions and societies. However, it is time to call a spade a spade, if for any reason the laws doesn't make any sense I think it makes all who try to defend these laws looks very stupid. It is ironic that so many agree with these man made laws that they are afraid of being condemned to hell if they think otherwise. Not wanting to lose their place in heaven they prefer accept what others have laid out for them. Wish all a good time in Heaven

I think you got it backwards. We created god in our own image but some of the establishments we added turned her into a monster.

Everything you say in your Post is correct, but you misunderstand the concept.
We are Creators, and Just like God we create our future one second at a time. God has no authority over us. This is very obvious, because we have free choice to do anything we like.( and we do it) We are like God in that we have wisdom, but when we incarnate into this dimension we agree to forget our Past lives, and although we are infinitely wise we forget much of this wisdom also. We are here not to learn, but to experience, and as we experience, we regain some of the wisdom we have agreed to forget. We do this as part of God, because otherwise God would be singular. If God was singular he could not experience life in a third dimension. Its like, if there was no "black" there could not be any "white," if there were no "in" there could not be any "out." If God did not have a part of Himself on earth (us) he could not experience life on earth. In other words, God experiences Physical Life through His Creations on earth. This is why He created us in His Likeness and Image.

There is more truth to what you are saying than most people realize. The only thing we lack is education which we are getting everyday through the consequences of our actions and choices. There are consequences to even God's actions and choices. You be the judge!!!!
