Many persons don’t want other’s foot to close to his hand. But I think foot is more clean than hand. The foot is always in shoe, it doesn’t contact other things. also with socks packed. but the hand always contact cell phone ,keyboard which Is not very clean . and someone don’t like to wash his hand always. but why person always shake their hands to each other? What’s the opinion of you mylotters?

I tend to agree with you, I see many people mainly men who don't wash their hands even after going to the toilet and with the latest trend for females to have extra long fingernails which i think are germ collectors, I think the feet could very well be much cleaner.

I'm gonna have to say that feet are definately the dirtiest. However hands can be disgusting too. Depending on where they have been. If you are walking around in a change room with your bare feet, then yeah there are some pretty gross looking things in there. There's athletes foot, toe fungus and the such, however, with hand people touch absolutely everything with their hands. the amount of dirty surfaces that we make contact with every day is amazing and we pass it on without even thinking. But definately feet. Think about it. Would you rather touch someones hand or feet? Hm...

Hey fwangaa! I do agree with you! I think that a foot would
tend to be cleaner than a hand most definitely! A hand is
always in contact with so many germs! If we ever really
thought about it or saw all the germs on our hands we would
get so sick just thinking about it! There are so many germs
on everything that we touch! It is amazing that we aren't
getting sick all the time! I am a chronic handwasher and I
don't care! My skin should fall off because I wash my hands
so much! I also tend to walk around without shoes in the summer
but I still think that hands are nowhere near as clean as
feet are! Excellent discussion!

I initially wanted to say that the foot may be cleaner if it has been covered by a shoe but then I remembered what my daughter's feet are like when she removes her shoes after she comes home from school, talk about sweaty! Phewww...!!!
The hands at least get washed regularly during the day (or so they should!)
I don't know where or why the art of shaking hands started, suppose it would be a little difficult to shake feet?

Yeah, the hand goes way more places than the foot. Good point. Flip flops might be a bad thing for the foot but if your foot is enclosed in shoes ands especially with socks it's not bad at all. The foot gets a bad rep because it gets sweaty I think. And because it is close to teh ground and could step on gross things. But nowadays, gross things ar everywhere especially money.

i think the hand is cleaner because it is most of the time exposed to air that even if they are sweaty they can be dried by air or manually which would prevent the growth of any bacteria that is there.
all the things that can be touched by hand can be most of the time cleaned. unlike the insides of a shoe. whoever cleans the insides of a shoe?

I like to think that hands are cleaner than feet. But you got a point also in the discussion that you started. Now I am confused. To settle my confusion, I would say that it depends upon the person. How about those people who don't frequently wear shoes? How about those people who wears slippers most of the time? I believe if the person is keen on cleanliness, his/her hands are as clean as his/her feet.

Hello fwangaa,
I think you have some point in there. As long as you are wearing clean socks or flipflop in your feet it will probably remain clean through out the day. While the hand, you are always touching or doing something with it and you are not so sure if the thing you are touching are clean. It may be the reason why we need to clean ou hand every meal so not to contaminate our food and put it in our body harmful bacteria. As long as you wash you hands after each handshake you are ok.
Regards.

You may be right. But have you ever thought that we often wash hands at least several times a day, but we may only wash our feet once or twice everyday. So perhaps the hands are cleaner? And in the western manner, it's OK to kiss a lady's hand, but perhaps it's disgusting to kiss a foot:)

I think it could be either one on that one I walk around without shoes alot so my feet could get pretty dirty. My hands on the other hand touch a lot of stuff in bathrooms and things like that. So, I would think they could be about equal in the cleanliness of the germ department.

I think you have a point...but it's improper to shake foot right? Lol! I think our hands get dirty but it's our choice...for me I wash my hands all the time so I think its not that dirty. When it comes to our feet, it also gets dirty because we wear shoes, slippers or sometimes barefoot which is prone to a lot of bacteria and we didn't notice it because we think it's just fine...unlike the hands, we easily noticed it when it gets dirty...so for me our hands is more clean(^_^)

although of course, we shouldn't just clean our hands when they look dirty but after peeing, touching those who are sick, before handling food. But I thin you know this.

To say which is more clean would depend on the circumstances by which each was being judged. Someone who spends much time barefoot might have cleaner hands unless they walked on clean floors. The same person might also work with their hands in something that kept them even dirtier than their feet.

Well i would partially agree with you........I believe both are unclean in their own respective ways.......but the more dirtier ones are our hands....because it is exposed and not always covered.....you pick things with it.....you also shake hands with others or rather strangers.....so you cannot be sure that that stranger has clean hands.....you also tend to touch things as you pass by the railings, handles, door knobs etc which is usually for public use.....so your hands always need utmost attention and needs to be washed at regular intervals with any antiseptic soaps........and once your feet are out of the shoes or when you return back home from work don't forget to wash it.......

Foot is much cleaner than the hands, for me the hands are the dirtiest part of our body, maybe because it is the one we're always using in almost everything we do. but it should also be consider that our hands are always being cleaned every time we used it, so at times we can also say that our hands are much cleaner than our foot.

Trivia: saliva removes bacteria when we swallow and our stomach kills most germs. Did you know your intestines contains billions and billions of germs? Same with our skin nose and teeth. So I guess our intestines, skin nose and teeth are tied for the most germs. We need this in a symbiotic relationship. We need to stop obsessing - researchers have found 200 Different species of bacteria live - LIVE on our largest organ - skin. Most like those in our intestines are helpful - not harmful and antibacterial soap kills it all -the good and bad. Our lives are dependent on germs. They help us digest food - and neutralize bad germs.

it depends on how often one washes the feet or hands. if you're a type that have more hand works than foot works then the hands are dirtier. it's the same way with people who are exposing their feet too often in the field without feet shields or something.

The toe may be in a shoe but a hand gets washed more often and doesn't smell. What if the person has dirty socks on or didn't wash? I wash my hands every time I go to the bathroom and I am always doing things around washing my hands. Alot of people do not wash their hands and it is pathetic. I also put lotion on constantly and feel my hands are the cleanest of the two.

I think hands are more clean than foot as it gets washed several times a day. While in case of feet not everyone wears shoes and socks, so the chances of feet getting dirty is very high. Also feet are generally washed once a day so the chances of them being dirty is pretty high.

hai fwangaa, you are wrong somewhere. your topic is mainly related with those who live an aristrocate life or such a life combinated with cellphone and socks or shoes. but there are too many person who are busy as industrial labour; bus, truck driver;beggar etc. are they not belonged to this human society? what about them? before taking food or on some general purposes, they wash their hands. but their feet remain unwash till night. what do u want to say now?

I think foot is more clean on its surface.but it always with terrible smell.thought it always in shoe, but our body always give off some waste thing.Nobody will be close to their feet, and the hand are always close to the air.so the dirt has more opptortunities to cover on the hand.
