Do you think term limits help to prevent totalitarianism?

Term limits are present in many democracies, including the United States. Do you think term limits help to grow democracy and prevent totalitarianism? Share your views.

It helps. Term limits also prevent people from getting lethargic and to vote for the same person over and over again, which happens with a lot of representatives. It also prevents somebody to stay in control just by manipulating the polls. Then again, politicians are mostly the same, no matter who is in office. There are minor variances, but at the end of the day, especially here with only two major parties getting a chance at ruling, it's really not much of a difference.

I think so, although I don't think it's 100% necessary. The politician would still have to be voted into office by the majority of people - and I'd imagine after a certain amount of time people would probably be sick of this person anyway, and would want to vote for someone new.
