Tofu is made of soy beans. Tofu is called "tokwa" in the Philippines. The word "tokwa" originated from the word "hokkien". It originated from china. Korea, Japan, Philippines, and other Asian countries adapt this to their cuisine. If you are in Asian, this is an inexpensive product, otherwise, depending whether you are living near one China town. Fried tofu is always a best side dish to congee or "lugaw" in tagalog. Another dish using tofu is tokwa't baboy (Tofu and pork). Tofu and Pork The ingredients are oil, minced garlic, minced onion, minced ginger, minced tomato, diced pork, tofu, black beans, chopped kinchay (small looking parsley), A certain sauce consisting of vinegar, liver spread, sugar, water, and bread crums. First you need to deep fry the tofu, then, after wards, diced it. Set aside. In another pan, sir the pork, then set aside. In that same pan, saute garlic, onion, ginger, tomato, and black beans. Toss the pork and tofu, add some water, and the sauce I have mentioned earlier, and simmer. After that, add kinchay. It's done.

Tofu is made from soybeans, water and a coagulant, or curdling agent. It is high in protein and calcium and well known for its ability to absorb new flavors through spices and marinades. Due to its chameleon-like qualities and nutritional value, tofu, a staple of Asian cuisines for hundreds of years, has recently become popular in Western vegetarian cooking. So popular, in fact, that it is celebrated with its own annual festival and has almost become synonymous with vegetarianism itself.

Tofu is beancurd. It is a soft, bland, custardlike food product made from soybeans. In China tofu is quite cheap and I think it won't be very expensive in your country. You can find it in both traditional markets and supermarkets. Tofu is one of the easiest things to cook in the world I'm afraid.:p Basically it can go with anything and can be cooked in anyway. You can sauted it will pork(well I hope you are not a muslim) or steam it with fish. You can make tofu into soup too. Hope you'll like it because tofu is really good for your health. It is full of protein and can prevent several kinds of diseases such as osteoporosis and heart disease. Enjoy your cooking.^_^
