Has anyone had success with quitting smoking aids?

I'm ready to quit smoking, but I don't want to go through all the stress that comes with it. I've heard some people have had success with the patch and stuff like that. What's the cheapest and best quit smoking aid?

NOT AT ALL I JUST SWITCH TO LIGHTER CIGS I USE TO SMOKE NEWPORTS NOW IM SMOKING MARLBORO LIGHT AND I DONT SMOKE 2 PACKS A DAY NO MORE I CAN HAVE A PACK FOR 2 DAYS

Yeah, I've tried cutting back too. That's better than nothing. It seems like I fall right back into a pack a day though.
