Full Metal Alchemist is one of my favourite anime. It was the first shown on the 2003 and lasted for 1 year with 51 episodes. And now the great news is "Full Metal Alchemist" comes back!! It is already on shown and I believe Animax is showing it worldwide. Although someone named it as Full Metal Alchemist Second Season. It looks as if it is a reproduction. I have watch 2 episode and the story is still the same as the old one. It's the presentation of the story that is different. That's keep an eye on it and see what's special about this one. Btw, any FMA fans in myLot?

Me!!! I love FMA!! I love FMA: Brotherhood so far. I've watched 3 episodes and I think the animation quality is much better. However, I do not really like the new voice actor for Roy Mustang. He doesn't sound as arrogant and sarcastic as the previous one. This one will be following the manga more closely. I think after a few more episodes, the story will be different from the first anime Anyway, I have an anime blog. Feel free. to drop by. http://chan-chan-anime-blog.blogspot.com/

hehe, add you as a friend and also add your blog to my favourite already :P What I've heard is that it will follow the manga more closely. I haven't read the manga yet but as that's what was said, I am planning to read them. I won't mind reading them because FMA is one of my favourite anime. Quite looking forward to the new series of FMA, because the old ending is not satisfying to me.

I didn't even know about the new Fullmetal Alchemist -- Brotherhood until I looked at this discussion. I read that the reasons behind bringing it back(Next to the fact that it makes money) Is that people wanted more of it. So, with that in mind, the popularity drove them to create a new place on Fullmetal Alchemist. Now, for all of use who watched the series.. We know that they left virtually 0 chance of anything interesting happening after Ed and Al left the alchemy world. So.. What did they do? They're filling in the gray areas between the story in the original storyline. Maybe someday they will finish and the combine all of it into one final series. I've noticed that the anime is much more detailed, and so far I think it's alright. They didn't butcher is as I thought they might have when I originally found out about it. I'm glad that it actually follows the original quite well, and shows us things that we don't see in the original ones. I'm looking forward to the future episodes. Oh, and I'm quite a big fan of fullmetal alchemist. And for anyone who doesn't know, the new episodes of brotherhood can be found directly on the funimation website, for free.

All recap anime and drama have the same target actually. No one will go to recap / refilm an unpopular series. There are Air, Clannad and a lot of others recap animes being reproduce for the same reason so it is not surprising. This new series is more closer to original manga. I don't know if it is covering up the gray areas or not because the manga series hasn't finished yet. There's yet no "true" ending. But anyway, an anime series based on either novels or manga not neccessarily has to follow the original. Although, of course, fans of FMA would want the anime to follow the manga as close as possible. All the same, the new series give me a new feeling and I think I will like it as I like the old one.

It's also called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's essentially a manga-loyal adaptation and the similarities right now are mostly because the first anime followed the manga storyline closely (with notable changes, to setup the latter episodes, of course) up to about the early 20-ish episodes. Considering how much they're speeding through the canon that happened in the original manga, I think we'll have new material in about 10 episodes, I think. I... feel like it's so rushed. I like the OP song, the inclusion of Hohenheim and how he reaches out to Trisha, but it seems to me that in trying to be different from the original anime, they made changes that took away what made the first one great. I have always thought that Alphonse's constant narration during the start of an episode, then the sudden narration of Edward at the end had quite an impact. This narration by someone else made things more technical rather than emotional. I do admit to still having been teary-eyed with the new Nina-scene, though. I guess some things just never lose their flavor.

Thanks for the information, semicolonp. I am moving on the 3rd and 4th episode now. Usually, we will think the first series is greater than the second because we are so used to it and the impact was over, unless the second series was completely different in style and all which is always an impossible case. I like the present ED PV for this series with the hand-drawn miniature Edward & Alphose running all over the place. At least it raised my spirit by watch it. I agree that some old things never lose flavour but at the same time try to appreciate the new thing, it will gradually grow old with its own peculiar flavour :P Hope we all enjoy the new series. Keep on discussing!!
