On the past week, I brought my car in to the auto service shop around my neighborhood for an oil change. The service technician keep telling me that I need this and that services done today. I told him that I would think about it. But he keep on insistent. Later on, a friend of mine who has fixing car experience told me that, I won't need it so soon. I can't believe those people keep on robbing people's wallet. I won't go back to that shop ever again.

Well, you will most likely experience this at every auto service shop or quick lube you visited. Because service technician/saleperson are trying to earn commission. Most auto service companies offer more than one services to survive. If you took your car to auto repair shop, they would check your engine for problems and offer their services if something is found. Even if you are just there for a oil change.

Ya I had a similair situation at a Canadian Tire. Brought in for a $30 oil change and teh person behind the counter ended up trying to get me to spend $400 on various maintenance on the car. I said no and to just do the oil change. I think they have to offer it as a quota of some sort.
