breeding dogs

i have a 6 year old springer spaniel and was wondering if its too late to breed her? if not has anyone got any tips - i have never bred a dog before! any ideas how long they are pregnant for and how many pups i could expect in her first litter many thanks

I wouldn't recommend breeding your dog, though I'm sure the puppies would be huggably adorable. There are way too many homeless dogs, cats, and animals who are put to sleep every minute of the day, sadly because they are overpopulated, abused, or have been too long at a shelter.

I have a friend who wants to breed her swiss shepherd dog. She is 6 years old and it would be the first time. The vet said it was ok, but not to wait for another year.
